I enjoyed the tempo of the book. The unexpected ooh wow moments were amazing. It was frustrating to listen to the book being read by a virtual voice. Way too robotic! There was no inflection of tone or personal appeal the way it is when a human being is reading. Please stop using AI for urban books it does not match the genre.

When Miami gangster Dante flies out to New Jersey to tie up some “loose ends”, the job is quickly sidetracked by a stop in upstate New York - Syracuse to be precise. While there, he reconnects with his blood mother and other relatives. Like her son, Dante’s mother is an underworld figure of her own as the leader of the ruthless Blackwell family, which is currently embroiled in a bloody war for total control of every last bit of NY and NJ drug territory. With Dante now in the fold, albeit temporarily...the Blackwells see an opportunity to crush their enemies once and for all.

I absolutely love all five of these books! I was both angry and disappointed when Alina broke up with Dante, but extremely happy once they got back together. Regardless of how many wives Dante acquired, she was his first love. I love that she was open minded enough to accept the other wives into the family although it is not a normal occurrence. I also enjoyed the character development of each family member from Andre to the hiring of Diamond into the fold. The mere fact that Dante had Mr. Wilson investigating the whereabouts of Alina’s family. There were so many interwoven stories but everything came together easily. I was hooked after book one…

Though there were plenty enough times I felt infuriated by Sugar’s actions and choices; it was nice that things eventually worked out for she and Marlo. I also sensed the animosity between she and Mya was a direct result of their father molesting Mya. Overall, the storyline definitely held my attention.

I love how this story weaves the fabric of Sarai’s life from bougie to broke. From loving one man who betrayed her with her friend to learning how to love someone who truly loved her. The ending left me in shock so I have to listen to the next audio book.

Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. I wasn’t sure how this book was going to be, however, it was interesting to listen to Mr. Taylor’s experiences at such a young age. He bore witness to so many of our historical events and was privy to work with the Beatles. I was pleasantly surprised especially for such a short autobiography. Great read!
