What happens if the adventure continues after the last die has been cast, the books closed and the players have gone home? A riveting story of a group of NPCs, that have little choice but to become so much more. A fun read/listen.

Liked the characters, the story lines and the duality of IRL and fantasy/virtual gaming. Hope I’m still around for the tech in the near future. After this one and the first book, I’ll definitely drop credits for future books in the series.

This book is an excellent sequel to the first book and the movie that came out of it.
Looking forward to the movie adaptation.
If there is one. 😀

Wil Wheaton’s reading was good to me, compared to most other audiobook readers.
I might even say, a bit surprising. I guess I’ll always see in my mind, that kid who was an acting Ensign but with an older voice.

The whole life, death, digital life thing, that’s a topic that I expect will generate a lot of conversations…

If you’re unfamiliar with this author and these two books, start with the first one or at least the movie first. Then go ahead and burn a credit on this book. It’s worth it.

This is more about the series as a whole, not just “Blue Shift”, from the perspective of an almost 60 year old.
As a person that is still working in a full time tech career and on the cusp of retirement, sometimes you just need a little break from reality. A suspension of belief and immersive story/adventure to relax by. Just like a good Sci Fi/fantasy TV series. To me, the story is engaging, the characters relatable, the descriptions, enough for the mind to build on. Enough to make you want to read/listen to the next book just to see what happens. “Blue Shift” is also a good place to end the series, with possibilities and on a positive note.
Incidentally, my criteria on whether a book is good or bad is simple.
If it was a dream that I awoke from, would I say “We’ll… THAT sucked…” or would I say “Wow, that was pretty freaking cool!” Well, in my opinion, this series is pretty freaking cool.

Great first book in a new series.
Looking forward to the next two.
I definitely would’ve picked a different name for my ship though. Lol

What it’s like to be an everyday spacer…

Ever wonder what it might ‘really’ be like for an average everyday being, to join up with the Merchant Services of the future?
Quarter Share explores ‘a day in the life of’, the average Spacer, in some detail.
This is not a glitzy space opera. There are no space wizards or cheeky AI. The only struggles involve keeping the ship profitable, learning new things, keeping the crew happy and trying not to be a screw-up.
I look forward to the development of the characters and their stories over the next books in the series.
