Story
It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives - an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie are looking forward to two days of boys, booze, and fun-filled luxury. But what starts out as fun turns twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine. And things only get worse from there. When a mysterious killer begins picking them off one by one, there's no escape. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on one another, can Meg find the killer before more people die?

I only finished this book because I used a credit on it
Reviewed: 04-19-23
The story itself is fine until the last few chapters where things start making less sense, not even going to talk about how pig headed the main character is. The narrator has a great voice but there’s too much emotion at times, especially the end. I get that it’s a high stakes situation from the pov of a teenager but it is overdone.

Tragic, heartbreaking, real

It's heartbreaking and frustrating, like dealing with addicts in real life. These were great performances.

The main character was annoying in this one. It all makes sense by the end but I don't like stories that require the characters to be dumb for the sake of the plot.

Camellia Beauregard is a Belle. In the opulent world of Orleans, Belles are revered, for they control beauty, and beauty is a commodity coveted above all else. In Orleans, the people are born gray, they are born damned, and only with the help of a Belle and her talents can they transform and be made beautiful. But it's not enough for Camellia to be just a Belle. She wants to be the favorite - the Belle chosen by the queen of Orleans to live in the royal palace, to tend to the royal family and their court, to be recognized as the most talented Belle in the land.

The ending sort of ruined the entire book for me, I think the book was well written other than that. It's an interesting listen though definitely.

The male narrator pulled me out of the story, I don't know if it's his voice or the way he reads. I only made it to chapter three before giving up. I think the beginning is a little slow following the other books too.

Townie is a brief yet dramatic glimpse at a blossoming friendship between two young women in a small college town - Amal, a transplant from LA, and Bridgette, a local 20-something who feels lost in her own life and becomes enamored with her new friend’s confidence. At first, the new relationship is intoxicating, and the two women spend every spare minute getting drunk on cheap liquor, party-hopping, and binging reality TV. But soon, a secret is revealed that shifts the dynamic, and Bridgette makes a choice she can never take back.

I picked this story on a whim and I'm glad I did. It describes so many “friendships” you see between women in the real world, the twist makes it all worthwhile.
