Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It IS very much based on the Bible, but then, if you are looking at this book, you know Rick is a Pastor. As someone that had bad experiences in several churches growing up, and not a fan of God's "fan clubs" (what I call organized religious groups) - I REALLY enjoy Rick's books, podcasts and overall style. Even if you are not a believer in God, there are so many things in this book that are worth hearing and learning. We have to live with 7 billion others on this planet - there are so many gems in this book that are helpful to any human being.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Purpose Driven Life?

Too many to list....I am listening to it again in fact....

What about Rick Warren’s performance did you like?

I just LOVE his story-telling style - I think that is my favorite part - he makes learning FUN! He is humorous and down-to-earth. He's the kind of guy you would wanna sit on the porch with a drink a glass of iced tea. Not at all a typical "preacher."

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Purpose Driven Life?

Gosh, way too many to list. Way too many. So many good quotes (not just biblical either) and so many good insights based on common sense...I think that it made me see that life s worth living...which I didn't think it was before.

Any additional comments?

Give it a listen! Well worth your time!

Would you listen to Deep Sleep with Medical Hypnosis again? Why?

Yup - I listen to it all the time. Its meant to be listened to over and over!!

Would you recommend Deep Sleep with Medical Hypnosis to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes - b/c it is very helpful and is better than taking drugs to sleep.

What about Steven Gurgevich’s performance did you like?

Easy to understand - sounds like he is really old - but - not a big issue.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

That repetition at bedtime - getting into habits that enhance sleep - make sleep more successful.

Any additional comments?

Should only be a half credit...it is VERY short and not really the value of a full credit. But, I am still glad I downloaded it!

Would you try another book from Kristin Neff and/or Kristin Neff?

NO

What could Kristin Neff have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not speak as if she was taking to a kindergarten class. And, take a drink of water every now and then. Nothing is worse than listening to someone speak into a mic that has a dry mouth. Ewww.

What didn’t you like about Kristin Neff’s performance?

See above.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Self-Compassion Step by Step?

The repetitive stories of her autistic kid.

Any additional comments?

I can't buy into the "self-compassion" movement. It does make sense that the self-esteem BS we are immersed in now is ruining our future generations. But I do not think that self-pity is the answer.
Yes, you can feel that you are not alone in your misery, but beyond that, it seems like it is all one big pity party.
And I listened to the book TWICE to try and get SOMETHING from it.
As the song says, "my give a damn's busted...Nope, nothing."

What made the experience of listening to The Sociopath Next Door the most enjoyable?

The reality of iit all. An ex-husband (diagnosed as "anti-social personality), the head of our condo association (eerily described to a "T" in the intro of the book), some bosses I have had, the mother of two unfortunate children I knew years ago...those who don't like the book are similar to homophobes - there is something in the book that makes them uncomfortable, something that hits a bit too close to home inside....In my condo building, I can clearly identify 3 people that fit this profile - willing to do whatever they can to please themselves, hurting others in the process, without guilt or remorse...It's also good to know that the training I received for my phychology degree from the 80's isn't THAT out of date.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Sociopath Next Door?

The spot-on description of the "head" of our condo association in the book - the horrid, nasty, guileless things he has done to us and others that live here us to seek a restraining order against him - and the fact that he continues to "reign."

What about Shelly Frasier’s performance did you like?

Well, she spoke a bit too slow...I guess that can be a good thing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It made for good commuting listening.

Any additional comments?

Be afraid and be careful - follow your gut...4% of "us" are one of these...stats greater than some of the most well known killer diseases today....
