Story
Clark Griswold was onto something...at least with his annual holiday meltdown. And since the last three weeks of my life have been riddled with humbug—another breakup, a broken toe, an office promotion I deserved and didn’t get—I’m not at all in the mood to celebrate nor have the happ, happ, happiest Christmas EVER.

I thoroughly enjoy ALL things Kate Stewart, but I'll say I was hesitant to start this just because I don't typically read or enjoy holiday/seasonal themes. However....this story had heart and a touch of spice. AND the cameo by SEAN from the Ravenhood trilogy, and the scene where Eli is drunk rambling was well worth the listen!

Story
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

I plowed through this story so fast, it's all I wanted to listen to every extra moment of the day I had. I haven't been this enamored by a romantasy book since the ACOTAR series. Super annoyed it ended where it did though! Hopefully the wait for the next book isn't too brutal...

Quick and easy palette cleanser
Reviewed: 11-20-24
Cute spicy story with not a lot of "background noise" or subplots. Easy to get through in a day or two when you just need a palette cleanser after finishing another series or longer story. Wasn't anything I'd rave about or probably even think about after finishing like some other stories, but it wasn't bad at all. MMC sounded older than I would've imagined had I read this instead of listened, he's only supposed to be 25 but sounds like he could easily play her father. 🥴 FMC voice actor was 👌

Story
Whit Lancaster burst into my life like a storm. Dark and thunderous, furious and fierce. Cold, heartless, and devastatingly beautiful, like the statues in our prep school gardens. The school with his family name on the sign. He can do no wrong here. This is his domain. He’s a menace on campus. Adored and feared. Hated and respected. His taunting words carve into my skin, shredding me to ribbons. Yet his intense gaze scorches my blood, fills me with a longing I don’t understand.

This was excruciating to get through.
-the smut is plentiful & spicy, BUT----
...the FMC is an absolute spineless, airhead!
-the MMC is a prickkkk and treats the FMC like complete GARBAGE for literally 80% of the book. it's beyond a "bully romance".
--the 18 month "time jump" is a joke. A year and a half was enough time to mature and suddenly act like adults?
16 hours was criminal for this crap.

Overall I really enjoyed this. I thought the voice actors were perfect matches for the characters, but felt that their delivery felt a little flat in spots. I really wish there was a bit more emotion and expressiveness during certain parts of the story. I was thoroughly obsessed with how obsessed the MMC is with the FMC. So sweet. Most of the tension of the book could've been avoided if the FMC wasn't slightly insufferable and indecisive throughout. But, happpy with their HEA regardless. Quick listen.

Narrorators distract from the story
Reviewed: 10-06-24
The way the two narrarators voice the opposite sex is really off putting. Takes you completely out of the story. I could NOT get in to any of the spicy scenes for this exact reason! Lost interest after trying to push through and finally accepting I wasn't going to be able to get used to it. DNF, sadly.

Story
Sadie Sawyer wants to learn how to blow a guy. She's my sister's best friend. The girl I've known since grade school. The girl I've always considered off-limits. She's the girl that crawled under a table in a bar one night and changed everything between us. Now the brain in my pants is more than willing to step up. The rules are simple. No kissing. No screwing. No falling in love. But the more I let her use my body in the name of experimentation, the more I know being friends isn't enough. Is it too much to want it all with her?

The beginning was intriguing. The initial spice definitely had me interested... but as it went on, it felt so repetitive and void of actual depth or real connection between the main characters. 90% of this story is just them giving each other head! Then when they FINALLY go all the way, at the end, (and OF COURSE she's a 23 year old virgin) *eye roll*...we're supposed to believe this guy who has been madly in love with her forever has her first time be "face down, ass up"? I physically cringed. I'll be requesting a credit refund on this one.

Story
Colin Novak is the big man on campus. Huge—if the rumors are to be believed. Nearly every girl at Davidson University has had a ride on him...everyone, except me. Which is fine. This frat boy may be irritatingly hot, all carved muscle with a deceptively wholesome smile, but that’s irrelevant. He’s a Sig. When I catch his fraternity cheating at the Greek Week tournament, he denies it—causing our rivalry between houses to escalate. Colin and I may have started the mud fight, but it grows into an all-out war and ends with us expelled from our houses. Now I’m homeless, and it’s all his fault.

...the plot didn't rope me in like the first book did, at all. I'm still unclear why they needed a marriage of convenience? I got a little bored about half way through, I'll be honest, and was ready to move on to something else. Also, all the "giggling" drove me nuts. while I do really enjoy the characters in this universe, but I likely won't read the third book. my TBR list is too long to spend time listening to a book that doesn't fully keep my attention.

Macon is the oldest. Thirty-one. Ex-Marine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him smile. Army is twenty-eight. A single dad with the most beautiful green eyes. He has no idea who he is, if not a Jaeger brother. Iron will be in prison soon. You’d never think it to meet him. He’s a nice guy, actually. But he can’t stop reacting to everything. Dallas is the one I hate. Twenty-one, cruel, and selfish. He takes and then throws away whatever’s left. And Trace is mine. Or he was for about two seconds. No one can tame him for long. Not that I ever wanted to.

This story was so good. It's everything you think it's gonna be, and everything you don't expect at the same time. Bingeworthy. I loved the individual character chapters, and being able to see the FMC through the eyes of each brother, and how they all loved her differently. Also, the spice was SPICY 🥵 P. Doug delivers, every time.
