A Nice Way to Start Your Day
Reviewed: 06-06-24
I want to start this review by saying I am not Catholic, but I do know a lot about Catholicism and do attend Mass with friends on occasion. I discuss differences between Catholic and Protestant views with friends who are on both sides. Gives you a bit of an idea of where I am coming from with this. I am also writing this review after listening and reflecting on the first week of devotions. I listened to those close to back to back with some mediation. The rest of them, I would like to do day by day. Hence, why I am writing this now. If my view changes, I will come back and edit, but I do not anticipate that due to the structure of this book.
The author does use Catholic terms, but it is nice that he explains them for those who are maybe not familiar with or only know the word, but not what it means or stands for. The author knocks down that barrier.
Each day starts with an introduction of the idea behind the day and the mystery. It further explains how this can apply to each reader. Then a prayer is read, followed by the Scripture reading for the day. Then the author breaks the Scripture down and speaks to it with some insight. Then there is time to read the Scripture slowly and reflect. When a question or two is asked, followed by a prayer. Then you sit in quiet and come up with an idea on how you can actively live out/ practice what was discussed. Then there is a guided silence reflecting on a piece of Scripture. Lastly, there is an exercise and journal prompt followed by a closing prayer. There is a little bit of everything for readers.
In the last ten months, I have thought more and more about Mary, so I enjoyed that this was a book dedicated to reflecting on her.
Readers are encouraged to journal with day. I journal on days something really stands out to me. I think this book can be done with or without journaling it is what best works for the reader.
The narration was fantastic, and I loved the narrators voice. I would listen to him again in a heartbeat. I also intend to read more by this author.
I received this audiobook as a review copy. All opinions are 100% my own.

I found this edition of Dracula by Bram Stoker really helped me grasp this book better. It helped me know where the book was going, which helped me focus better. I also loved all the symbolism. A lot of that would have been missed by me if I had not been told, and I found it enhanced the enjoyment of the book.
I have put off reading this book for years, and I am so glad I gave this a listen. It is in my top classics now. I will relisten to this again in the future.
Drew Kallen- Keck did a great job with the narration. The voices were distinct and the book felt eery the whole way through.
I would highly reccomend this edition of Dracula for those who are new to the book as well as those are rereading it again.

Story
Pride and Prejudice has long been Britain's favorite novel, and though first published over 200 years ago, has stood the test of time. Its bright sparkling dialogue and sharply drawn characters continue to delight reader young and old. The romance between Elizabeth and Darcy has been imitated countless times in other novels, but has never been equalled.

Enjoyable Pride and Prejudice Narration

Pride and Prejudice is such a wonderful story. It is not my favourite Jane Austen, but I do love all of Austen's work. Pride and Prejudice is a great place to start with Austen, if you are new to Austen.
I enjoyed Claire King's pacing with the narration. Her voice is pleasant. I just wish her voices had been a little more distinct between some of the characters.

Winning Nationals wasn’t the only dream that came true. I also walked away with the heart of the one boy without whom I couldn’t live. I knew being Jace Wilder’s girlfriend wouldn’t be simple. But how could I have known all the hurdles we would face? Drama at school? That’s a given. Jealous girls? That I expected. Family secrets? Not so much. At least I can always hit the trails to clear my head...or so I thought. The high expectations from my winning cross country season still haunt me and hold me hostage. I can’t seem to get psyched up for what comes next.

I LOVED the first book in the series, and I cannot believe it has taken me so long to listen to the second book. I absolutely loved All Pepped Up. The story line was great, my jaw dropped at the surprises, and it had really great chemistry between the characters. It has light steaminess to it. I highly recommend this series. The fact it was just as good as the first book speaks to Ali Dean's fantastic writing. Now on to listen to book 3!
Stacey Glemboski has distinct voices and emotions that make for an easy and clear listening experience.

Modern Day Sex and the City
Reviewed: 03-18-20
I thought Ella and LA was a great start to a series. I really enjoyed the various characters that Stephanie Kline created for this series. I feel this is a series I will enjoy more and more with each book, as the characters and plots intertwine more and you feel immersed in the world.
I found there were quite a few characters to keep track of and I struggled with this at times. Everyone was kind of jumping from person to person. Like Sex and the City meets the virtual world.
I reallllly enjoyed the narration. I did not realize until I went to write this review that there was only one narrator. I thought there were two. I think that speaks to Daniel James Lewis talents.

Julia Farrow has it all. She's got the friends, the grades, the smile, the perfect reputation, and the new boyfriend who adores her. All in all, life is pretty much perfect for Grover High's favorite cheerleader. Until she's tagged, that is. That ridiculous "Geeks Gone Wild" hashtag is still going strong and while Julia has managed to steer clear of the drama unfolding between the jocks and the geeks, one embarrassing photo is enough to flip her world upside down. The boyfriend? He's out. The friends? Turns out they're more like frenemies.

I love the dual narration by Lauren Fortgang and Josh Hurley. They both do such a great job with emotion that you feel you are the characters.

I ABSOLUTELY DEVOURED MY VIRTUAL PRINCE CHARMING!!!
I thought I loved the first book in the series. I did not realize it would be topped by the second book in the series! Maggie Dallen is an amazing story teller, and I love how she writes these books where you can listen to them as a standalone or as a series. You see characters from other books, but I do not feel it is necessary. Anything important from the first book was added in very well.
Suzie and Luke's chemistry is so sweet and off the charts. While I related more to being Margo (from the first book in the series,) Suzie is the girl I wish I was growing up. I love Luke's trope of being the popular guy who has this secret nerd life. I felt they brought out the best of each other.
This is perfect for anyone who loved the movie A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray.
I loved that there was a female and male narrator for this story. I feel it adds an extra dimension when listening, plus I find it easier to follow along. Lauren Fortgang always does a great job with her voices and has a beautiful voice to listen to. Graham Halstead is new to me, but also did a fantastic job with voices and his emotions were so real!
I cannot wait for book three!
