Story
Reacher goes where he wants, when he wants. That morning he was heading west, walking under the merciless desert sun — until he comes upon a curious scene. A Jeep has crashed into the only tree for miles around. A woman is slumped over the wheel. Dead? No, nothing is what it seems. The woman is Michaela Fenton, an army veteran turned FBI agent trying to find her twin brother, who might be mixed up with some dangerous people. Most of them would rather die than betray their terrifying leader.

The least of the Magician novels, this book is still on of the greatest of all time. If you are on the fence about the series, get off on the Fillory side and take the trek through the world in the walls. You'll thank yourself later.

Hannah’s whole life has been spent in motion. No roots, no family but one another, and no explanations. All that changes on Hannah’s seventeenth birthday when she wakes up transformed, a pair of golden eyes with knife-slit pupils blinking back at her from the mirror—the first of many such impossible mutations. Story
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

Serious Disappointment
Reviewed: 07-13-21
I was hooked by Book 1, Book 2 was also delightful, but Books 3 and 4 are utterly disappointing. The addition of literally hundreds are new characters, all with forced backstories, mindless violence, for violence sake, and a lot of retconning the previous books made the last two unenoyable. I listened to them for closure, but nope. There is no definitive end. The "main character" fromBook 2 gets a moment, the main character from Book 1 is left with nothing, and all the minor supporting characters have nothing. What could have been my favorite series of all time, ended with utter disappointment.
The voice actor was amazing!!!!

Story
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.
