Story
Sasha has had it. She cannot bring herself to respond to another inane, “urgent” email or participate in the corporate employee joyfulness program. She hasn’t seen her friends in months. Sex? Seems like a lot of effort. Even cooking dinner takes far too much planning. Sasha has hit a wall. Armed with good intentions to drink kale smoothies, try yoga, and find peace, she heads to the seaside resort she loved as a child. But it’s the off season, the hotel is in a dilapidated shambles, and she has to share the beach with the only other occupant: a grumpy guy named Finn.

Not my favorite

I was in the mood for a funny romcom. This wasn’t that. The story was ridiculous. The narration was flat. I could never tell which character was speaking. The “mystery” wasn’t a mystery. Nothing worked.

Jane Tanner’s friends are settling down, while she’s been settling for less. She longs for adventure and the big city, but caring for her ailing grandfather means she's shackled to her small town. She’s excited her vintage gift shop is finally up and running, but it’s not enough. Longing to fulfill at least one dream—to become a mother before her biological clock ticks out—Jane drunkenly propositions the worst possible candidate for Dad.

I don’t like when there are inconsistencies in the story line of a book series. There were some key incidents from previous books in the series that were either wholly glossed over or just omitted. I also felt Jane was emotionally stunted and had the wanderlust of an 18 year old. What made her think a baby was the right accessory for seeing the world. Sounds like something a teenager would think. I also thought it was naive to think she could move her successful business from small town Montana to some of the most expensive cities in the country. Didn’t make sense to me. Finally, I did not get the impression Jane was actually in love with Burt. It feels like she settled. Even though Burt was a great guy, I think Jane would always wonder if there was something out there for her.

It’s not as bad as the reviewer who had a hard time finishing reported. The last few chapters were a bit ridiculous and not thought out well. But it was okay.

Not much of a story. And the narrators was pretty bad. Like they were reading and paused at the end of a line instead the end of a sentence. The story made me think a 15 year old wrote a story about what they thought a 30 year old would think and feel. Just not a great book.

Piper Bellinger is fashionable, influential, and her reputation as a wild child means the paparazzi are constantly on her heels. When too much champagne and an out-of-control rooftop party lands Piper in the slammer, her stepfather decides enough is enough. So he cuts her off, and sends Piper and her sister to learn some responsibility running their late father's dive bar... in Washington. Piper hasn't even been in Westport for five minutes when she meets big, bearded sea captain Brendan, who thinks she won't last a week outside of Beverly Hills. How bad could it really be?

The Christmas party at the Sea Glass Inn is a long-held tradition, one the townspeople of Blackbird Beach consider the kick-off of the Christmas season. Until, of course, the inn closed, and the party stopped happening. Now Georgia Carpenter has decided it’s time to restart that tradition, even though the party is a massive undertaking and one that will influence how people feel about the inn for the rest of the year. With the help of her sister, Lilly, Georgia hopes to put on an event that will be merry and bright and spark new interest in the business.

I listened to all the books in this series because I’m just like that. I don’t think the books were well written. I think the decision to have multiple narrators was down right silly. There was so much useless detail in these books. It’s like the writer was paid by the word.

Story
There’s a wedding on the horizon, and Georgia Carpenter couldn’t be happier. But that doesn’t mean she’s lost sight of everything that still needs to be done to get the Sea Glass Inn ready for opening. Not only is she preparing for that, but the magazine photoshoot is right around the corner, too. As is the town council election. Most people think Travis Taylor, the inn’s handsome handyman, is a shoo-in, but with Lavinia Major as his opponent, anything could happen. And probably will.

It seems very attainable, too, thanks to all the help she’s been getting from family and friends. She and Travis Taylor, her handsome handyman, seem to be on a good path, as well. In fact, everything is going swimmingly until a rival in town does the unthinkable and creates all kinds of chaos.

Why so many narrators?
Reviewed: 11-18-22
The story is a slow mover. Multiple narrators are complexly unnecessary. It does not make the story more interesting or offer insight to the characters POV. This series could be severely condensed without loosing anything. The writer spends so much time describing mundane tasks. …Mia put laundry in the washer…added a soap pod…set the load to normal… started the washer… left the room…. Okayyyy. Why so much detail? It did not advance the story. It’s almost like the writer tried to use as many words as possible.

So the main character is getting evicted from her apartment with no place to go and she finds out she inherited property? What was her plan. Was she going to sleep in her car? This was never explained. The dialog creeped along. Slowly. No real twist.
