Story
The towering iceberg drifting in the North Atlantic was a floating tomb. Embedded in the great gleaming mass was a ship - sealed in so solidly that not even its mast protruded. Here was a sea mystery to rank alongside the Bermuda Triangle and the Marie Celeste. But for Major Dirk Pitt, top trouble-shooter for the National Underwater and Marine Agency, it was also the first link in a fantastic chain of events that would lead him too close - and too often - to violent death.

A few hours later, Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala are on their way to the Indian Ocean. What they will find there will eventually lead them to the discovery of the most audacious scheme they have ever known....

Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

Story
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

American Hate Book
Reviewed: 09-20-17
Would you try another book from Audible Original and/or Martin Sheen?
Yes, I think all books should get a chance to be heard. You learn something new from everything you read.
Would you ever listen to anything by Audible Original again?
Yes, I think some of the stuff they do is probably very good. This book had many true facts in it I am sure, but it leaned very anti American.
What about Martin Sheen’s performance did you like?
He has a great voice for audio books. Very clear and easy to understand.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The best part of this book was hearing the true people who lived through that time.
Any additional comments?
If you are going to listen to this be prepared. This is a very anti American leaning book. While I know we have made mistakes in our history this book in most chapters takes it to a new level. There is very little on the good we did during the war, and consistently points out the bad. While much of it is true some of it not. One example is that the national debt went down every year after the war was over until Regan went into office. This is not true at all. You can tell the creators here have a major issue with our country as it was then and most likely is now.

Great Read and Story

If you could sum up The Rose and the Thorn in three words, what would they be?
Exciting, Entertaining, Perfect
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Rose and the Thorn?
The act of the King and his love for his wife when he learns of her death, or that Haydern in the first wanted Gwen for himself.
Which scene was your favorite?
Royce getting his payback and setting up things to go well for Gwen.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
To learn how devoted Hillfried is to Arista even at the early age after reading Riyria Revelations first.
Any additional comments?
This has been great to get the begging of the story after reading what is going to happen. It has been fun to learn what got them to Riyria Revelations. I love this series and I hope more are to come in this one and would love to see another that covers time past Riyria Revelations if possible.

Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but longstanding enmities dividing the Rhune make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods? The answer lies across the sea in a faraway land populated by a reclusive and dour race who feel nothing but disdain for both Fhrey and mankind.
