Loved the characters. Not so sure about the narrators.

The story was exceptional. Loved the characters. Not so sure about the narrators. They had harsh voices. Their changes in voices seemed not natural or fluid. The arrival of a certain male was unforgettable and unsurprisingly dramatic. It brought tears to my eyes. The ending was awe inspiring and loved the happiness of the couple. It was a long time coming. I think with the written word only I would have enjoyed this book more.

This has been the best four books I have listened to on Audible! I loved Jay Dyess’ performance! I loved the story lines written by Jessie Gussman. They all have a sweet Christian romance theme that was easy to listen to. Jay’s performance was incredible! He has a wide variety of voice talent with women’s voices, men’s voices, children’s voices even singing voices! Each character was so unique and I never had a doubt who was speaking. I appreciated Jessie’s talent in writing them and the feelings expressed by them were genuine and easy to believe. I cannot sing her and Jay’s praises high enough nor recommend their books any higher.

A Refuge that really isn’t
Reviewed: 08-13-21
I’ve read this book a few times and still love it! So I went and bought the Audible version and love it even more. Sara finds herself in a Mohiri stronghold supposedly safe and secure. Instead we find betrayal from her supposed friends she made. As a consequence we find lots of vampire fights, training for Sara, taming wild fantasy animals, romance between Sara and Nicolas (oooo so swooney and dreamy!). Sara feels bad feeling guilty that it’s all her fault. Better watch out when she feels guilty because then we know she is going to do something drastic. Yep, she does it again. She’s gone and taken her own life in her hands, no more expecting others to take care of her and keep her safe within the supposed refuge. On to the next book. I love it!

Miriam steps off the train looking for a job, not a husband. She refuses to be wed, and Gideon is unspeakably embarrassed by the misunderstanding. Stranded in Savage Wells, Miriam has nowhere else to go - and a secret that she's determined to keep from everyone. She has epilepsy, a condition that other doctors had claimed was symptomatic of madness, a diagnosis which prompted her family to have her committed to an asylum. Miriam is afraid that if Dr. MacNamara finds out the truth, he will send her back to the asylum, but Gideon is not like the other doctors she has encountered.

As with the previous book in this series I would advise the reader or listener of this book to not eat while listening as you will certainly chock up with tears. If a book makes you feel all the feels then it is definitely worthy of at least five stars. Not only that, I thoroughly enjoyed the tongue in cheek comedy. On the serious side, It also touched on the affliction of epilepsy. Seems that back in the day, epilepsy was considered a madness and those afflicted with it were placed in a mental health institution. Miriam was a newcomer to the town of Savage Wells brought there, as Miriam had thought, to become the nurse assistant to Gideon, the town doctor. However, Gideon also thought she was a mail order bride. Consequently, when Miriam realized this she ran. This did not bode well with the townspeople since they loved their good doctor. Circumstances changed the townspeople’s mind when the children became sick with scarlet fever and the good doctor was out of town caring for someone farther away, so the responsibility fell to Miriam to take care of them. Her sacrifice for the children in town endeared them to her. So when she was in need of their support they, without hesitation, stepped up in support of her. Ms Eden has done a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life and addressing a serious subject. Also, since I listened to the Audible version I must congratulate the narrator who did a fantastic job not only of reading each character but also emphasizing the important parts. This story without a doubt is well worth listening to. I can easily recommend it to anyone.

A tongue in cheek, hilarious comedy that entertained me throughout this story. I loved Ms Eden’s sense of humor and the way she put words to the page. Her descriptions of the characters would make you chuckle and envision them easily. I could easily see this story as a movie. I loved the way the narrator read this. She had a wide range of voices plus just the right emphasis on certain words to make the comedy even more entertaining. The romance was a very slow burn only due to the candidates of the job for sheriff. Our romantic pair of the competitors, Cade and Paisley, bantered continuously. Firstly, it was with fierce competition and gradually turned into a more gentle banter with words of affection.
This story also includes underlying themes which afflicted the secondary characters such as prejudice against women working in a man’s world, dementia, PTSD, etc. Paisley was very good and equally as capable as any man at the job of being the sheriff of their small town of Savage Wells. However, as soon as it was made known that the bank was expecting higher monetary deposits in the immediate future the town council agreed the job of sheriff needed to be a fierce, intimidating, and strong man who would make the robbers think twice about attacking their town’s bank rather than a woman.
I loved the dry humor that Ms Eden wrote into this story and how the narrator spoke and emphasized certain words to allow us to understand that dry humor. I’m not sure the reader of the ebook or paperback would understand that dry humor just by reading it. This audible version I highly recommend.

Story
Anna the Prophetess is the dramatic chronicle of the only woman to be called prophetess in the scriptures. When Anna’s great niece Julia is exiled to Jerusalem as punishment for her refusal to marry a man old enough to be her father, Anna shares the story of her early days of courtship with her husband. Although Julia’s parents admonished her to observe firsthand how lonely Anna’s life is, Julia instead discovers that her great-aunt’s life is far from lonely - it is full of love, peace, and incredible faith.

This wonderful story brings to life the time of Anna, the prophetess
Reviewed: 08-01-21
Be sure that you are not eating while listening to this story. You will be sure as I was of being chocked up with tears. This story brings to life the time of Anna, the prophetess and Simeon who both were witnesses to the baby Jesus in the temple. We listen to this story as Anna tells it to her great niece as she had come to visit her in her home. Anna told of her husband of merely eight years and how she came to marry him even beyond the time of a normal betrothal age. Anna’s great niece Julia, can relate a little bit as she is having difficulty with the town gossips about her own choices.
The narrator had a nice range of voices and was very solemn and reverent when necessary due to the person speaking and the subject matter.
I think that this story would be wonderful to read during Christmas time. It would be a unique story of Christ other than the birth of Christ as told in Luke in the Bible but no less significant. I could easily highly recommend this story whether on Audible or the ebook format.

I have this book on y kindle and have read it multiple times. I had to get this audible version once I found it. It allowed me to do other stuff while listening and did not regret getting this one. I will always love this book and series. I still get chocked up during certain parts of the story. To me it shows what a wonderful author they are if I can feel all the feels. I am definitely going to download the rest of the series. As far as the narrator is concerned, I think she did an ok job, not great but ok. At first I could not understand her that much as she spoke fast and didn’t quite enunciate her words that well. If I wasn’t familiar with this story already I probably would have backtracked often so I could find out what was going. After awhile I became more familiar with her voice and it didn’t bother me so much. I would still recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy about elementals, vampires, trolls, and other such characters. This is very entertaining.

Ms Jen has brought this part of history to life!
Reviewed: 06-20-21
I enjoyed listening to this Audible version of this regency era story. Ms Jen has brought to life the English court’s political machinations especially during the time of King George lll and Queen Charlotte. I appreciated the research she gathered in order to bring this story to life. I loved the romance between Aribella and Layton. I could feel their angst as their relationship was frowned upon by the Queen since she wanted him to court one of her daughters. I loved how things worked out for them in the end. I intend to listen to this once again and savor it more fully. I appreciated the narrator and her many voices. She read it clearly and at an even pace so the story was easy for me to absorb. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone.

One of my all time favorite from Stephanie Meyer!
Reviewed: 01-02-21
I love this book! I have had the hard copy for a long time. I have read it several times. I also bought the movie and watched it many times. This is without question my most favorite book, movie, audiobook. When I had the opportunity to get this Audible version I swooped it up. I listened to it nonstop all 12 hours of it. I think I will listen to it many times in the future. I loved Wanda. Such a sweet altruistic person and yet strong in character. Each character in this story contributed a significant portion to add to the story. I appreciated what they all went through and the learning process they lived through, each person’s personality and how they differed. I appreciated Ms Meyer’s portrayal of the people’s living situation in the cave and how they had to go hunting in the city without getting caught for food and other necessities. Her description of how the surgery was done, how each person contributed to the gardening, the eating quarters, sleeping quarters. I will forever love this story.
