Story
The history of the Boston Tea Party is a hidden one. Why? Since it was a clandestine operation, all sorts of rumors and legends grew up around the event—many collected decades after the American Revolution had ended. At its core, however, the night of December 16, 1773, when colonials dumped tea from British ships into Boston Harbor, was more than a fight over tea and taxes. It was a struggle over the very nature of democracy and self-governance.

This is one of my favorite eras to learn and listen to. But the research behind this was fascinating and I found myself amazed at all that everyday people needed to do to throw off the chains for their freedom. I found myself cheering them on listening to this. Worth it!

Story
This audiobook is for highly sensitive people who have felt out of place in the modern world. It provides a narrative that describes how they fit into a lineage of creatives throughout history. Jacob Nordby offers a bold new definition of success in the modern era. "The only success now is living and creating a work-of-art life: unique, rich with meaning, naked of anything we don't care about, and ruthless about carving out something absolutely real from a world that has gorged itself on fakeness and become critically ill from it."

I live my life as an artist already, and I am officially a weirdo of old as I've been a creative since I was a little girl. Having a government job for 20 plus years and having a part-time creative gig I wasn't confident and having an artist lifestyle. However covid changed everything, and I became a full-time artist by necessity and have been flourishing ever since. Being a full-time artist, I work alone, live alone and it's hard to find another person to have a wonderful conversation about deeper things, especially creativity. I hunger for things that are authentic and meaningful and as much as I put out leaves me feeling creatively dry and mentally and physically exhausted. I found this book by accident and with each chapter I'm feeling more nourished in my soul and I have needed this beautiful journey. I absolutely love being an artist but now I am becoming a renourished artist. I am now going to have to get the printed version so I can make notes of my favorite passages and post it around my home. Thank you

Story
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

The Secret Lives of Color tells the unusual stories of 75 fascinating shades, dyes, and hues. From blonde to ginger, the brown that changed the way battles were fought to the white that protected against the plague, Picasso’s blue period to the charcoal on the cave walls at Lascaux, acid yellow to kelly green, and from scarlet women to imperial purple, these surprising stories run like a bright thread throughout history. In this book, Kassia St. Clair has turned her lifelong obsession with colors and where they come from into a unique study of human civilization.
