Mark Greaney is a great writer and storyteller. I found this installment to be tightly written and compelling. I love that Greaney’s books are so well researched. Adds so much realism. Narration was excellent.

Annie Bot was created to be the perfect girlfriend for her human owner Doug. Designed to satisfy his emotional and physical needs, she has dinner ready for him every night, wears the pert outfits he orders for her, and adjusts her libido to suit his moods. True, she’s not the greatest at keeping Doug’s place spotless, but she’s trying to please him. She’s trying hard.

What a story!

My only reservation when deciding if I wanted to spend a credit on Annie Bot was if this was a chick book. I’m an all-American guy who recently read All Fours, which pretty much requires a vagina to appreciate (ummm, get at all). Well, Annie Bot is no All Fours. I loved it from start to finish. What a unique, original take on ai and lifelike robots. Filled with insights and inspiration. Well written and with spot-on narration. I’m going to recommend Annie Bot to everyone and anyone.

After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

Even hotter
Reviewed: 01-28-25
In my reviews of the first 2 books I mentioned that Rebecca Yarros writes the best sex scenes in popular fiction. Well, hard to believe, but she steps it up in this installment. In fact, it might be too much for some readers (me not included). Just be forewarned: it’s graphic.
The rest of the book doesn’t disappoint, either. Yarros is gifted at writing this kind of story. The action scenes are plentiful and tightly constructed. The story arc never wavers, but does deliver the kind of surprises we’ve come to expect in this series.
The narrators are spot on again. I listen at 1.35 speed and find that pace is great for this material. Breathless at times, both in battle and the bedroom.
This one will certainly join its 2 predecessors on the bestseller lists. I wouldn’t be surprised to see all 3 there at the same time.
Eager for book 4.

Easily worth the credit. Fast paced, true to background characters, interesting plot. The only thing that kept it from being 5s all across was that the voicing of the secondary characters at times sounded forced. Not enough to sour anything, but still…

Cate Winter, at 34, is a wildly successful neuroscientist and entrepreneur who has invented a cure for Alzheimer's that will improve the lives of millions. On the verge of selling her biotech company for an obscene sum, she is also about to become very rich. But Cate has a secret that keeps her deeply uneasy about everything she is and does: she grew up at the Cleckley Institute, a treatment facility for the rehabilitation of psychopathic children. And, as far as she knows, she is the institute's only success: all of her peers have become thwarted, maladjusted or even criminal adults.

I so wanted to love it
Reviewed: 08-17-24
I read a story in my local paper that interviewed the author and gave an outline of the story. Exactly the kind of book I enjoy, I thought. But, meh. It’s not bad, but somehow just doesn’t quite deliver. Hard to put my finger on why, other than it’s just not compelling enough given what I thought would be an awesome plot. Not enough character development for Hunter (who costars opposite Kate). And there is a reveal at the end that (1) was not foreshadowed at all, and (2) was completely unnecessary and, I felt, undermined the integrity of the story.

Story
It happens more than you might think. One second someone’s life is totally typical, the next it’s terribly tragic. Everything they had, everything they planned, everything they were, all of it vanishes in a flash. Shock and sorrow leave the victim staring into tomorrow’s void, wondering: How did it happen? Who did it? And why?

Everything about Twisted Lives is great. This book is so good that I sped it up beyond my usual 1.35 listening speed to keep up with my enthusiasm for it. A combo murder mystery and spy-type thriller, the plot moves rapidly. There are twists and turns every time you think you know where it is going. The characterizations are flawless and fascinating. The dialogue rings true. And the narrator, Jay Snyder, is outstanding. Without giving anything away, make absolutely sure you listen through the Author’s Note at the end. It will blow your mind!

I love the Gray Man series, but was concerned this might be too much battlefield stuff. After all, it’s titled Armored. But I should have known it would not be a Greaney book if it were that limited. This is a great action-driven, richly charactered story set largely in Mexico in territory ruled by cartels. I liked enough that I immediately pre-ordered the sequel.

There’s not a slow moment in this book. If you have liked previous Gray Man stories, you’ll love this one. Mark Greaney turned AI into a character and it felt real. We also get to see a more human side of Violator. And it clearly set up the next installment. Can’t wait. Jay Snyder does his usual stellar job of narrating.
