Story
Malrosa is a princess of the Athanatos, powerful immortal insect people who have been systematically assaulting Vita's island for years. When Vita ends up fusing her soul with her, the resulting gestalt must struggle to reconcile her conflicting viewpoints and beliefs. Now in love with two homes and full of perspective her old self lacked, Vita must bring peace between warring islands... and if there's one thing Vita has always been bad with, it's peace. This is the fourth and final book of Vigor Mortis.

Healing and the End
Reviewed: 12-23-24
A great capstone to this series. As always the ending feels both sudden but well written. I would have loved for Vitas growth to have taken another book, but it's natural for the reader to wish a good series not to end, and it's far better for things to finish organically for the author than for creative juices to peter out.
Vita's story is not over, but we will no longer follow it. Watching her go from a street rat, to traumatized super'villain', to what she is now was a wonderful journey. Long live Little Blue!
Thank you Thundamoo for another series of exploring humanity wrapped in delicious plot. I look forward to Bioshifter.

Monstrous
Reviewed: 12-23-24
the Sewer scene was really difficult to read. Same with Nugas. What was worse was the fact it goes unaddressed. Have faith in the author though. This is the darkest part of the MC's arc, and sets up what is to come.
The not-so subplot of Lark is S tier and really carried me through the above and is a really fun inverse to Vita.

Story
Two years have passed since Vita was arrested by the Inquisition, and her time in prison has not been kind to her. As Penelope Vesuvius plots a grand breakout while currying favor with the government, the monstrous Lark joins the Church in search of redemption. A conflict between the most powerful forces in Valka is set to simmer, and it's only a matter of time before it boils over...

Jelisaveta is bae
Reviewed: 12-23-24
While last book was about her descent into apathy, this book continues that trend but with verbal pushback. Vita is a monster now. Forced into monstrous choices, she's become apathetic and cruel to the lives of anyone she doesn't personally know.
Jelisaveta is used as an emotionally intelligent foil to explore this, and I loved every second of it.

Story
Dorky, socially awkward entomology student Evelyn wakes up one morning to find herself as some sort of alien-human hybrid trapped on an unknown planet. Once the initial panic winds down, she quickly learns she's capable of producing more of herself: additional bodies all sharing one mind. Being well-versed in sci-fi tropes, she quickly resolves to not devour the planet and turn into an unflinching biological armada, and instead uses her new powers to try and help as many people as possible. Unfortunately, it turns out that helping people is often very, very difficult.

It has been a while since ive grieved for the ending of a book

The science behind the fiction was phenomenal. the main character came off as deeply intelligent, but loveable and flawed and real. This story combines a fantastic display of biology scifi nerdiness with philosophical character growth that became progressively more profound as the story moved on- exploring philosophy made possible because of the unique situation of the MC.
This book is cute, beautiful, profound and, occasionally, raw. The author has my utmost respect for this and I look forward to reading her other works.
I won't say more as to avoid spoiling things, but this book is well worth the journey.

the initial character development of many characters was strained/cringey, especially Liam. the story felt a bit flat/directionless directly after the initial spin 1/3rd of the way through. once the base building aspect was introduced and new characters introduced however, I was back on board. The story has been entertaining since, and the latter 2/3rds have been well worth my time.
I take major issue with the fact that John and Billy are repeatedly mistaken for one another in the reading however. John wants to tame the bees and Billy doesnt understand why, for example. But when it's apparently time to do try, the names of Billy and John are swapped, leading to an immersion breaking experience. After the 3rd or fourth time of this happening, it's frankly gone from surprising to unprofessional. Whether this is the fault of the author or narrator I don't know, but it really needs to be fixed.
despite these things I have grown attached to the worldbuilding and fully intend to continue the series for that alone.

Think you've had a bad day at work? Marcus definitely takes the cake. First, he had a horrible customer during his shift. Then he got fired by his boss. And after that, he got shot to death during a robbery. To top it all off, he awakened within the body of a weak and strange creature in a fantasy world full of deadly monsters. And that's just Monday!

Unique and entertaining

The story starts out choppy, the connection between the MC's death and their reincarnation is confusing and unexplained. Truthfully it didn't need to be an Isekai at all. Once MC got their footing and events began to flow though, I really loved the story. Great way to fill time, but beware of swearing.
