Story
Jane Austen fan Amelia Bennett sneaks away from a dull tour of an English country manor, only to run into a man more dashing than Mr. Darcy himself. About to lose his ancestral home to family debts, charming aristocrat Tom Calder invites his American guest to join him in drinking his way through the estate’s priceless wine collection. But when they wake in his bed the next morning, they’re convinced that in their drunken haze they witnessed a murder. Problem is, the body has vanished and no one believes them.

It intrigued me from start to finish and kept my interest keenly.

I liked the characters and the realism of how they were portrayed. At times Amelia was a bit too combative for my preference due to fear but that didn’t deter me from continuing or from enjoying the story!

Good story. Abominable narrator.

Other 3 books in the Nils Shapiro series were good and well narrated by MacLeod Andrews. THIS book narrated by Bronson Pinchot was difficult the entire way through. I stopped listening twice due to this. Ultimately picked it up again bc I wanted to hear the next story in the series.

I’ve read several books by this author with Nils Shapiro character. Really enjoy how the character grows from book to book, and the way he solves the mysteries he faces.
Really great narrator. He brings the characters to life!

Great story, atrocious narration

I stopped listening several different times due to frustration with narrator. She portrayed females as petulant teens, men as ridiculous brutes. Made following the true story line difficult due to her vocal inferences.
I thoroughly enjoy Beverly Barton books; have listened to numerous titles. This story line was as enjoyable as her others. If I’d had time to read the physical book I would have returned this audible version because of narration! Can you rate “no stars” for performance?!

Story
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book! While lengthy, in most cases I appreciated the “color” Perry added Re each character’s thoughts, the surroundings, etc. Near the end I thought I knew the answer, and I was right, but I still really enjoyed the unfolding and the various plot twists clear through the end. I recommend this book, and look fwd to my next Thomas Perry read.
