Story
You know the type: the woman who won't shut up, who's too brazen, too opinionated - too much. She's the unruly woman, and she embodies one of the most provocative and powerful forms of womanhood today. In Too Fat, Too Slutty, Too Loud, Anne Helen Petersen uses the lens of "unruliness" to explore the ascension of pop culture powerhouses like Serena Williams, Hillary Clinton, Nicki Minaj, and Kim Kardashian, exploring why the public loves to love (and hate) these controversial figures.

While burnout may seem like the default setting for the modern era, in Can’t Even, BuzzFeed culture writer and former academic Anne Helen Petersen argues that burnout is a definitional condition for the millennial generation.

So, as a leftist, I already knew the majoirty of this stuff in a broad sense. But getting through this book was really eye opening. I had no idea to just what extent the topics David Graeber goes into went.
For me? The last chapter was the most enlightening. Especially as I, someone who comes from poverty, attempt to get into humanitarian work? I'm seeing just how absolutely impossible it seems to be for someone with anything less than a bachelors degree to get into the field. Especially if you want to immediately make material differences in the lives of people NOW.
Great read. I will be giving it AT LEAST a second read.

This helped me thing more about my own situation and how to finally get started.
