Predictable
Reviewed: 11-17-23
The narrator was good but the story was so predictable none of the twists were surprising and it just fell flat I’ve seen this book all over and I thought it was going to be a good one but save your credits and money it’s not worth it.

Story
Ellingham Academy is a famous private school in Vermont for the brightest thinkers, inventors, and artists. It was founded by Albert Ellingham, an early 20th century tycoon, who wanted to make a wonderful place full of riddles, twisting pathways, and gardens. "A place", he said, "where learning is a game." Shortly after the school opened, his wife and daughter were kidnapped. The only real clue was a mocking riddle listing methods of murder, signed with the frightening pseudonym "Truly, Devious".

I loved this book!

This book was great I loved the way it told two stories in one. One from the 1930s and then present day. Some people from other comments complained about the cliffhanger but I didn’t really mind it just gave me an excuse to re-listen to the book before listening to the second book. The only issue I had was the narrators pronunciation. She just seemed to make the words choppy and over pronounced the words it kinda drove me crazy. She did well on the male voice in my opinion though. I would recommend this book though just in book form so they don’t have to listen to the narrator.

Story
Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery's never been there, but she's heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age 17. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now, Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows. The town is picture-perfect, but it's hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone has declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing.
