Story
Tom Felton’s adolescence was anything but ordinary. His early rise to fame in beloved films like The Borrowers catapulted him into the limelight, but nothing could prepare him for what was to come after he landed the iconic role of the Draco Malfoy, the bleached blonde villain of the Harry Potter movies. For the next ten years, he was at the center of a huge pop culture phenomenon and yet, in between filming, he would go back to being a normal teenager trying to fit into a normal school. Speaking with great candor and his signature humor, Tom shares his experience.

Thank you Tom for your heartfelt, well written and narrated book! It is so refreshing to hear a book of hope and love without disparaging comments about your own family and stage family. I loved all the Harry Potter books and movies and so you brought all those moments to life again. Your support of the woman who started it all, JKR, is admirable also. I’m glad you recovered and are whole again! Great story everyone! I’m listening again!

Good, but not like books 1 and 2

I’m all for truth in history and equality but this author/narrator seemed intent on making this about slavery. I really liked the other two books that came out before this one-they were light-hearted and fun and made learning things about history interesting and memorable. I even purchased recommended books by the authors. This book, “Spies” just wanted to make me turn it off. It’s probably the times we are in (2022) with CRT in our schools. I’m old, and missed all that. It just wasn’t what I was expecting. Best it was free.

“Where are we going?”....
Reviewed: 11-12-19
I did not enjoy this book—it was a lot of meandering going no-where. I started over several times and barely made it to the end. How many people were killed as Gunnie Rose went along shooting everyone down? and why was she killing everyone? I liked the idea of the US being broken up but did it suddenly turn into saloon towns? Wasn’t this set in the 20’s or 30’s? As for wizards—there wasn’t much of a supernatural stuff going on—just guns, guns, and more guns. Maybe this would be a more exciting TV show or video game but I just didn’t get the premise. Why should we care if the Tsar lives or dies?

Story
I was so excited when Darcy announced out of the blue that we were flying to Kenya for our extended honeymoon. Now that we are here, I suspect he has actually been sent to fulfill another secret mission. I am trying very hard not to pick a fight about it, because after all, we are in paradise! Darcy finally confides that there have been robberies in London and Paris. It seems the thief was a member of the aristocracy and may have fled to Kenya. Since we are staying in the Happy Valley, we are well positioned to hunt for clues and ferret out possible suspects.

I’m happy they are finally married and I really liked that Darcy was more accepting of Georgies’ help with the assignment. They were really a team!! A lot of positivity and less scolding!
Jasmine had so many more voices to do and she did a great job! This is a work of fiction so if the subject matter bothered some because of PC, then don’t listen to this and definitely, don’t listen to Huckleberry Finn.
Otherwise, I give kudos to Jasmine for filling big shoes in her own style. Onward and upward!

Story
When a peculiar letter arrives inviting Armand Gamache to an abandoned farmhouse, the former head of the Sûreté du Québec discovers that a complete stranger has named him one of the executors of her will. Still on suspension, and frankly curious, Gamache accepts and soon learns that the other two executors are Myrna Landers, the bookseller from Three Pines, and a young builder. None of them had ever met the elderly woman. The will is so odd and includes bequests that are so wildly unlikely that Gamache and the others suspect the woman must have been delusional.

Hard to finish...

I loved all of The Three Pines books, but this one was hard to listen to. All the characters, but Gamache, sound the same and I can’t tell the men from the women. Myrna is a middle aged black woman but sounds like Gabri, a middle aged gay man. Annie sounds like she’s about 100, and she’s only 30ish. I miss Ralph Coshams characters. I could tell them apart. And the women sounded like women and men sounded like men. I find myself straying and having to re-listen to the chapters over and over. I’m not sure I can finish.

This is my favorite because it’s a classic mystery and has all the twists and turns and red herrings. The characters are likable and Hugh Fraser does excellent female voices without sounding over-the-top. I’ve gotten tired of Poirot and Marple at times and I can listen to this one over and over again without getting tired of it. I think it has intelligent dialogue and is just fun to listen to or read. I think Hugh makes it worthwhile to listen to-I think I’ve listened to it about 20 times now!

Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live. Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. But something sinister is afoot....

Very Pleasant Surprise!
Reviewed: 08-19-18
At first, I put off ordering this book because every time I thought of the lose of Katy Kellgren, I cried and couldn't listen to another voice...BUT, after crying through the introduction of the book (I really need to pull it together!), I was so happy with Jasmine's rendition of Georgie and her team of friends and family. I have never had such an emotional ride! I was anxious, terrified, elated, joyful...I cried at the wedding! and this is fiction! The range of emotions that Jasmine could characterize, in my opinion, surpassed Katy in some cases. I followed every nuance, crack, and tremble in Jasmine's voice and cried when Georgie cried. For many of the voices, she was so spot on! I loved Darcy's husky, sexy, Irish voice, Belinda was not so over the top and Queenie was....well, it was Queenie, without being grating on the ears! I really can't say enough good things. Brava Ms. Blackborow!...you are the new voice of Georgie and her gang! And I have to say, this is my very favorite Royal Spyness book. Brava to Ms.Bowen too!

Super Course but can’t listen in the car:(
Reviewed: 07-17-18
I love Professor Greenberg but I was disappointed in this course because it came with URL links, instead of the previous courses that have the music integrated. I can’t stop and hook onto WiFi in order to watch YouTube while I’m driving! Not very safe! I feel like I have to start over on a day I can just listen and click the links to listen. All the information and history is fascinating-it’s rare that you get that much history in school. The course was very good and Dr. Greenberg is fun to listen to, but don’t listen in the car-you’ll have to follow along with the PDF and URL files at home.

Louise Penny does a very creative telling of the story by having three separate stories come together at an end which will give you chills! I was spellbound and drove the long way around so I could spend more time listening in the car!
Ralph Cosham is the voice of Inspector Gamauche. I was sad to find he’s not with us anymore but I really love this series and so I’ll keep going on! You can’t miss a thing so listening closely is a must. Minute details have meaning in Three Pines!
