Story
Mona and Duncan used to be best friends. Now they can’t stand each other. Too bad that’s not a good enough excuse to miss their two families’ annual trip to the cabin. But things get really complicated when they accidentally drive through a wormhole together on the way. Look what playing nice and carpooling gets you. Now they’re stranded indoors by an epic storm and stuck in an alternate timeline where things are just slightly ... off.

Characters were simply too juvenile
Reviewed: 06-11-25
Once upon a time C.B.’s prior books were, though short, delightfully written! However, the lead female, Mona, in this book is pure rubbish and very childish. And the lead male…I think even less of him for such tolerating rubbish but he’s just as childish. So perhaps a perfect match? But could a woman be any more ambivalent and whinier?! Duncan should run for the hills!

Meredith White was one of Hollywood's most recognizable faces. But a personal tragedy cut her acting career short and alienated her from her family. For the last 15 years, Meredith has been living alone in San Francisco with two trusted caretakers. Then a massive earthquake strikes Northern California. Meredith invites her stunned and shaken neighbors into her mostly undamaged home as the recovery begins. These people did not even realize that a movie star was living on their street. Story
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

Story
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Story
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Story
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Whiplash Storylines
Reviewed: 01-25-25
The problem was inevitable. With so many versions of Bob, heading so many different directions, the story lines are not very cohesive. The chapters are often bogged down with expositional interactions just to keep a subplot moving along. The story would benefit from a more pronounced focal plot. Of course, when this was tried with Heavens River, and that generated its distractors as well. Just goes to show you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can never please all the people all the time. Overall a very good series as long as you can keep up with all the characters archs.

Was good until about 6 hours...

A novel that's 14 1/2 hours, from a true writer, should not need to fill their book with 'fluff' of sexual encounters to maintain a word count. Simply tell a good story and make it 10 hours. Nevertheless, chalk it up as "lesson learned" as I was only being introduced to a new author from the Plus Catalog. Cheers!
3/10/25 UPDATE: In fairness, I completed the book. However, my review remains the same.

Thank you Michelle Stimpson for writing a story that pulls the listener into a moment of time that transitions into a generational legacy with depth, meaning and purpose. No filth/language/sex, but a writer, without the useless fillers, who can justifiably be called an author. I applaud 👏 you!
