Story is a disaster
Reviewed: 11-03-23
The story revolves around one person, by themselves alm9st all of the time. It's slow, it's boring, and definitely doesn't live up to many other titles in this genre. The narrator as always is fabulous, but how he got through this story I will never know. Not sure you could pay me to read it after the first time.

Story
Make sure the kids aren’t around! Just because you’re a grown-up doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the art of the children’s bedtime story. Nick Offerman presents this collection of 12 short stories written in the style of a classic kids' tale, but with a decidedly dark and adult approach. What really happened after Snow White died, from the perspective of the one medically trained dwarf? A naive wizard professor reports back from the trenches of an underprivileged school of magic. And much more!

Deborah Harkness’s sparkling debut, A Discovery of Witches, has brought her into the spotlight and galvanized fans around the world. In this tale of passion and obsession, Diana Bishop, a young scholar and a descendant of witches, discovers a long-lost and enchanted alchemical manuscript, Ashmole 782, deep in Oxford's Bodleian Library. Its reappearance summons a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with her leading man, vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont.

I don't generally do witchcraft and vampires...
Reviewed: 07-16-18
To be clear. I do not generally do witches and vampires... However this particular series, has adjusted my thought processes on how these two things can be intertwined. This novel is the love child of Charmed and True Blood. The vampires are frightening, the witches are powerful and they don't want to be. From the male, uncommonly liberal redneck, it is totally worth the time to listen to this book series. I was extremely surprised by the reader being able to pull the liststener in without trying, it was intriguing without being forced. She was capable of creating the world you were listening to, without forcing the characters on you. They were natural and intriguing, and to go so far as saying engaging even. You will not regret the first book in the series... patience is required for the second and third was an entire experience of its own. listen for words are beautiful and not to be taken lightly, learn the lessons you can and forget the b.s. that exists in all books, and you will not only enjoy, but be taken away with the story.

Dark, disturbing, and undeniably exciting.
Reviewed: 07-23-15
James Clemens sumersaulted into my list of favorite authors with this series. He manages to capture these characters in such a way that you feel a connection with each and every one of them. When they feel pain, something inside of you wails right along with them, when one of them dies, a piece of you goes with them. His writing is intense, and unforgiving, and he should be proud of his ability to ignite a story that burns deeply into your brain until you finally finish it. Not just the one, but all 5 of them.

Children of the 80's unite!
Reviewed: 07-23-15
This book was amazing. It is extremely well written, and as a child of the 80's, it brought back so many memories.
Will Wheaton reading was also a wonderful nod to growing up surrounded by the pop culture that Ernest captured so well.
The storyline is intriguing, action packed in such a way that it isn't distracting and actually serves to further the plot. Which often times in adventure/fantasy novels is overly derived and often serves as filler.
If you read no other books this year, hell, this lifetime. Read this book!
