About this listen

Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess.

He never returned.

Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

If he can survive the trials, Corin will earn an attunement, but that won't be sufficient to survive the dangers on the upper levels. For that he's going to need training, allies, and a lot of ingenuity.

The journey won't be easy, but Corin won't stop until he gets his brother back.

Dungeon crawler meets fantasy novel

At first I wasn't sure but as the story goes along it's pretty good and unique. Will definitely be looking forward to continuing this series.

Fantastic!

The beginning was a bit too fast paced, and as a result I felt jostled around and I kept pausing it and returning a few days later. After the first part is over it finds the right pace, and the story develops beautifully after that. Worth listening to for sure! This is a book I will most definitely listen to again, and I'm definitely buying the next book

Good book good narrator

I fully enjoy this good I just cant get enough of the story and the characters within as it just draws you in from the first few pages.
Nick is an exceptional voice to go with this title as he portrayed ever characters as if he alone was on a stage and playing out the scene on a grand stage. At first it caught me off guard but I truly grew to love it. so thank you for this.

Loved this book

I really have to stop listening to series that aren't complete. I can't wait for the next. The reader is very good and greatly contributed to the quality of the audio book.

Simply Brilliant

Now to wait for book 2 and the subsequent Audible release. Can't wait, but I guess I have no other choice.

Just wow!

Where to begin, the author is absolutely brilliant!

The world is well thought out, the concept of magic and attunements is unique and the storyline pacts a good punch.

Without explaining much, I truly believe that anyone interested in fantasy will be thoroughly entertained.

It has elements from a few different books in the same genre such as Tower of Babel and maybe even Harry Potter? Yet it distinguishes itself rather nicely.

The motivational force driving the main character after a tragedy is real, the alliances and relationships formed really organically and the change in behavior of the main character from stubborn to not as stubborn is pretty meaningful.

The main character seems like a reluctant protagonist and he surely isn’t given some overpowered ability like you would expect in other stories. Instead he has to push forward creatively to hold his own making him an underdog you want to root for. And root for him I did.

Don’t pass on this one :)

Best book I've read all year!

Best book I've read all year! I couldn't stop listening. Great characters, story moved well, and Nick Podehl knocked it out of the park again!

Different

I never knew how to feel about any character and I loved it. Though the book travels in a slightly predictable direction the pace can change abruptly and suddenly you aren't where you expected to be 10 minutes before. And Nick Podehl killed the performance, obviously.
