Story
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

Good story but….
Reviewed: 06-13-25
This is a good story and I’m in the middle of it to review it to note the blaring metallic sounding music that Will randomly blow out your eardrums for no apparent reason! Idk why King allows this nonsense in his works. Sometimes the music is louder than the narrator. The balance is off. But the writing is on point, and so is the narration. Someone just made a very bad decision in production.

I can’t get through this book
Reviewed: 06-04-25
I don’t know if it’s the story or the narrator. I love King, which is why I searched his book to listen to. I even like hearing him narrate his own books. This one said he was going to narrate part of the book. This was not true. I’ll have to move on to the next one. I’m returning this book. I just cannot get through it. I keep starting back to earlier parts to see if I missed parts. I still don’t know who a certain character is or what her function in the story is. It’s not worth it. It’s hard enough for me to listen to the narrator. I’m just going to call it a day. Good luck to the rest of you. It’s probably just me. Idk.

The telephone rings. You just pick it up without thinking. It could be anyone. But this time it’s a killer and the killer’s got a name - and a victim. When Andy Zadinski picked up the phone that evening, he was cool. Just keep him talking. But when he called the police, they didn’t believe him. In fact, no one believed him, not even his father. After all, the whole thing was too weird to believe. Even Andy began to have doubts, until the killer started stalking him.

Can’t listen to it due to the character
Reviewed: 04-03-25
The boy is too stupid. I can’t listen to it. I’m not sure if this is normal in some families, but it’s not realistic in my culture, so it makes it too irritating to listen to. The boy is unusually disobedient and is being ridiculously dumb. This is my favorite narrator so it’s not him, it’s the writing.

Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.
