Story
Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes - obscure Bible verses, odd symbols - have the police stumped. Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are in Baronville visiting Alex's sister and her family. It's a bleak place: a former mill and mining town with a crumbling economy and rampant opioid addiction. Decker has been there only a few hours when he stumbles on a horrific double murder scene.

I liked the intensity, twists, the narrator’s narration. What I didn’t like was the feeling it stirred inside me of how stupid/forgetful people can be about past events. Also the animosity about people from other seemingly different cultures….

Lots of technical detail in the beginning which was important to the mission but not the reader. So slow start, but built up to lots of twists and turns. The epilogue was a sweet touch, but VERY unrealistic: finding not object not much bigger than a body in outer space, but nice touch to the story….

Story
The “Prey” novels by Pulitzer prize-winning journalist John Sandford consistently make the best-seller lists, but they are not for the faint of heart. Featuring Minneapolis Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, these thrillers are raw, graphic, and impossible to put down. In Eyes of Prey, a depressed and unfocused Davenport takes on a macabre case, tracking down a serial killer who maims the eyes of his victims after he has murdered them.
