About this listen

The “Prey” novels by Pulitzer prize-winning journalist John Sandford consistently make the best seller lists, but they are not for the faint of heart. Featuring Minneapolis Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, these thrillers are raw, graphic, and impossible to put down. In Eyes of Prey, a depressed and unfocused Davenport takes on a macabre case, tracking down a serial killer who maims the eyes of his victims after he has murdered them.

Very Dark

Very Dark,

As a Sandford fan I’m glad he lightened up a bit on his later novels. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have followed.

Great ending, very surprised.

This was another great book in the series. Only issue was the narration slowed and had to listen to it speeded up a bit for it to sound like normal speech. Other than speed of narration this was a fantastic story with a very good narrator. And most of all I loved the ending.

Story good performance not good

The reader talked too slow and the background hiss killed me. Sounded like and old record.

Love Lucas Davenport!!

I really enjoy John Sanford's Prey Series! Ordinarily after the 3rd book in a series I begin to lose interest in the main character and don't care anything about the supporting characters. Not with this series! I can't wait to see what Lucas gets up to next!
Perfect narrator as well.

Intense

Where does Eyes of Prey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the best prey series novels.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is so suspenseful.

Which character – as performed by Richard Ferrone – was your favorite?

Michael Becker, even though he is a sick, twisted man.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This book was so good, and it tied into the next one, so I immediately started listening to Silent Prey to find out what would happen next.

Classic Sanford

This is the 3rd book in the Davenport series, and good. I really like it. I think most will be pleased with the the audio book.

Really Hooked on Davenport

Can't get enough of these books by John Sandford. Richard Ferrone makes the charters come alive. I definitely will complete all of the series.

Lucas is depressed...

If you could sum up Eyes of Prey in three words, what would they be?

Sad, Maddening, dramatic

What did you like best about this story?

Lucas is fighting the "Winter Blues" and as the story progresses he starts to heal and get better because of him finding a love interest. But the sad and maddening thing of this story is the loss of this love interest as she becomes one of the murders Davenport has to investigate

What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ferrone allows the characters to have their own voices without over doing it. He is able to follow the dramatic twist and turns with his voice over so the listener is never out of touch with the tactile feel of the storyline as it happens. I look forward to continuing this series and hope MR Ferrone continues to narrate this series.

Any additional comments?
