A cool compilation of matheson stories but nothing particularly interesting to me personally. Don't listen to this hoping for horror.

Story
Rusty Moss has raised his niece Mia since she was a baby. Now that she's almost 18, he's worried that the life he's given her - living off the grid in a cabin deep in the woods - is holding her back from her full potential. But that angst gets pushed aside when the undead forest animals arrive. At first it's just a squirrel - shockingly violent and almost impossible to kill. Followed by a grizzly bear, also aggressive and resilient, even when point-blank shotgun blasts to the face are involved.

Meet George and Lou, thugs for hire. The kind of intimidating-yet-friendly guys who will break your thumbs, but be polite about it. Their latest assignment is to drive across Florida to deliver some precious cargo to a crime lord. The cargo: a man in a cage. Though Ivan seems perfectly human, they're warned that he is, in fact, a bloodthirsty werewolf.

While I was hoping for something funnier from Strand (I'm aware that's my own expectation), this book had my attention and the narrator was actually pretty great. I will definitely be listening to more Strand books read by him.

This narrator sounds like he was born without a nose. I'm not intending to be rude, but how can so many narrators have no self-awareness about their voice?

Hospital hauntings and nurse encounters are something is always been interested in. Facebook has a pretty great collection of interesting happenings. It's definitely worth picking up.
The narrator was okay. He was a little too chipper to bring the right kind of atmosphere but he wasn't bad I guess.

I really wanted to like this book. The cover is beautiful and drew me in.
Unfortunately it was a bit of a slog. I forced myself to finish it. Maybe it just wasn't for me but I couldn't find it interesting.
The narrator did an alright job but the audio quality is distracting. There's a hiss during every sentence she speaks. It really takes away from the experience. You can even hear a mouse click or two.

There's just one problem: Spencer has met a girl. There's no winning for Chris. If things go well with the girl, Spencer is going to neglect him. If things go poorly, the consequences could be very far reaching. What's a zombie to do?

These are more like zombies in the traditional voodoo sense.
When a blind woman sparks up a relationship with a bullied cryptkeeper with a facial birthmark, things get very romantic... and haywire. Worth a listen.
The narrator was passable. The choice of voice he went with for the female character was a little irritating.

*Don't judge this book by it's terrible Crossroads Press cover. They really should hire legitimate artists or use the superior original paperback covers. These old books deserve better.
The narration of this book was really great and this audiobook is top quality.
I've had this book on a wish list for some time. I saw it on a list of forgotten and underrated horror novels. While this book wasn't necessarily for me, I can't give it a negative rating. I've never really been into the romantic vampire(though I wouldn't say there's much of that in this book) or Christianity as a weapon against them. This book is this really well written and, if you like Dracula, you should enjoy this.
