Story
"Who am I becoming?" That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. Outwardly, he appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So, he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: "Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life." It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was - and continues to be - the answer he needs. Within this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating road map to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

The importance of slowing down
Reviewed: 07-09-24
I greatly appreciate the biblical application of living a slow and meaningful life. The Christian life is not about sprinting from one thing to the next, but about slowing down and being present in the moment so we can do the will of our Lord Jesus.

Teaches you how to think like the rich
Reviewed: 12-18-23
I always thought I knew about money and what an asset was, but knew that I could do better somehow. I just didn't know how. That's where this book comes in. I see now that, while my financial habits have been good, it won't get me above middle class. The lifestyle Robert advocates is scary and involves a lot of risk, but having listened to snippets from Elon Musk and other rich people and how they see money, I'm convinced Robert is telling the truth in here. The rich see things very differently from the non-rich and immediately after listening to it, I could see opportunities in my community where I could start a business and I see a real potential asset as well! I'm certain that - after the Holy Bible - this is a book every one should read as part of their education.

Where is the investment guidance?
Reviewed: 12-17-23
I expected the author to start covering investment strategies guide you through the analysis process of investing in stocks, bonds, or any other type investment vehicle. However, the book starts with providing great savings advice but is extremely long winded on the matter. I kept listening but after being denied investment advice - beyond don't invest in commodities, gold, or art - I started skipping ahead. Turns out, stocks aren't covered until chapter 9. That's a long time to get discussing investments, which I assumed was the point of this book. Disappointingly, when I heard him treat brokers as though they have no clue what their doing, I knew I couldn't trust this book to help guide me into making millions over the course of years. A better book to read is "Rich Dad Poor Dad".

I love the charm and warmth. It's so down to earth and, while it may be romanticized in some ways, it does make me wish I could be apart of this cute community at Green Gables. Also, Anna is just adorable!

A wonderful and whimsical story. The imaginative qualities in each of these stories really make me feel like a kid again when my imagination wasn't so hindered by a need for things to always have an answer or be explained or reasonable.
I love it and I recommend this series to anyone who wants to get back in touch with their inner child!

In this book, Campbell outlines the Hero's Journey, a universal motif of adventure and transformation that runs through virtually all of the world's mythic traditions. He also explores the Cosmogonic Cycle, the mythic pattern of world creation and destruction.

Fails to get to the point!
Reviewed: 10-12-22
The author has some interesting ideas and uses beautiful word imagery to illustrate his point. However, he's so wordy that it makes it hard to understand what he's really trying to say. He will spend what feels like hours going on and on about an example. I just wish he would be briefer and simply get to the point!

Enjoyable!
Reviewed: 06-11-22
Now that I have listened to this whole collection twice, I can confidently say, "I like these stories". Also, I do like seeing how the writer's skills improve over time.
It all starts with Magician's Nephew. The storytelling is "ok", but does a good job laying the ground work for the lore the future books will build upon.
As you listen to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, you'll notice a slight improvement in storytelling from the author but it was simply "okay". Also, I feel the lore from the previous book is satisfactorily utilized here.
Now in The Boy and His Horse, I could clearly perceive the author's improvement in skill. I found the story kept me engaged all throughout. From this story onwards, I truly enjoyed listening!
To avoid going book by book, I will wrap up the last 4 books by saying they are the best stories in the box set, especially the Voyage of the Dawn! The characters have clearly defined motivations and more personality. The author does a great job of "showing" over telling. An excellent listen!

Story
Since time immemorial, humans have worshipped the gods they call Fhrey, truly a race apart: invincible in battle, masters of magic, and seemingly immortal. But when a god falls to a human blade, the balance of power between humans and those they thought were gods changes forever. Now only a few stand between humankind and annihilation: Raithe, reluctant to embrace his destiny as the God Killer; Suri, a young seer burdened by signs of impending doom; and Persephone, who must overcome personal tragedy to lead her people. The Age of Myth is over. The time of rebellion has begun.
