It Grew On Me
Reviewed: 06-28-24
I have to admit that the first time I listened to this story, I had a hard time getting into it. I just completed it it for the second time and found that I had a hard time pausing the story. The story definitely grew on me the second time around. I am looking forward to listening to the next two seasons, and more if Travis Beacham chooses to continue with these stories.

Wonderful Story
Reviewed: 01-30-24
I really enjoyed learning more about Tom Brokaw's early life and how much of an influence his father had on the man he now is. He emphasizes again and again that despite all the adversity that "Red" Brokaw experienced in life he always seemed to find a way to make lemonade from the lemons in his life. Mark Bramhall reads this wonderfully, but wish Mr. Brokaw's health had allowed him to perform the narration.

Story
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Too Much Sex, Too Little Story
Reviewed: 01-30-24
I am not sure why the author had such an abrupt change from the previous books in this series. Up to this point there some sex scenes as part of each of the previous books in this series, which I feel were appropriately done. But when it came to this story, it seems like the author relied more on graphic sex scenes than in the other stories combined. That is why I like this book the least of the series so far. It seems like she put more of those scenes in the story so that she could have the length of she wanted. I would have preferred the story to have had less sex and more actual story line. If there is another book in the series, I hope she has a more balance story line instead of a book that I would place a rating of NC-17 on.

I was so pleased when I discovered the recording of this classic Christmas story that I knew I needed to have it in my collection, even though I have other recordings of the story. In his own talented way he really brings to life all the beloved characters in the story. I can now listen to this and his reading of Jacob T. Marley and have a truly enjoyable listening experience.

Not the best effort
Reviewed: 03-15-22
I am a little bit past halfway in going through this book and while I have learned some new things so far there are two things that have prevented me from giving it a higher rating. The first being the mispronunciation of Osiris and Thoth in the Egyptian mythology section. The second being that the PDF has the Egyptian and Norse sections switched. Another slight detractor are the narrators. They weren't the best choice.

Story
Born to the ranks of the lower English gentry in 1775, Jane Austen led what some have mistakenly described as an ordinary and unremarkable life - a life that ended all too soon at the age of 41. But from this life, Austen drew inspiration for six novels that all rank as literary masterpieces, including the widely beloved Pride and Prejudice. So, what do we really know about Austen’s life and influences?

I thought that this course was very well put together and quite informative about the stories Jane Austen wrote. I feel that I understand them better now and will listen to again because I may have missed something. I also appreciated hearing more about what her life was like and the societal and other issues she faced during her lifetime. Would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to know more about Miss Austen, her life and her literary contributions.

Prior to listening to this my only experience with Neil Gaiman was Coraline, so I was definitely prepared for an out of the world experience. I figured why not indulge in a freebie especially since my experience listening to other work produced, etc., by Dirk Maggs was absolutely fantastic and awesome. In fact I may soon be listening to both this act Act II in the near future and have my mind blown away again for the first time. Looking forward to more from the Gaiman Maggs team soon.
