EW. A LOT OF GAY PORN.
Reviewed: 08-10-24
I want to continue the series but I'm terrified that there will be more gay porn; it's gross and it really ruins the storyline.

Had to skip all the gay crap. So gross. It's disgusting to hear about gay lust, gay make-out sessions, and gay sex; it made me want to hurl... or at least vomit in my mouth a little bit.

... it's unfortunate that society has become so brainwashed, politically correct, and full oof virtue signaling that they need to ruin every good novel, every good story, and even every good movie by turning it gay in some way.. Not everybody wants to watch, hear about, or read about gay sex and gay rape. Books, like movies, should come with a warning if there's going to be elicit and explicit gay nastiness in it.

Story
Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world-to engage in the turf war with the lessers. His heart belongs to a female vampire, Marissa, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. And if he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers.

Mediocre but Fun & Sweet

Lots of corny. Too many catch phrases. Too much slang, mentions of rap music, literary pornography, and too many cringy-worthy hiphop colloquialisms. I hated all of that; the author was trying too hard to make the characters sound "cool". Nevertheless, the overall story was still entertaining & enjoyable. The narrator was basically monotone ( every character sounds alike). He's more of a reader than a dramatized narrator.

Who needs movies when you have Ray Porter narrating? I wish this story didn't have to end. I pray there's a book two. I don't know which was better: the story, or Ray Porter's narration of it. Ray Porter makes me regret ever giving other narrators 5 stars, as he's the most talented narrator I've ever heard. I still don't know if the book was actually great or if Ray Porter made it great.

Story
Renowned academic Dr Sparling seeks help with his project on a remote Irish village. Historical researchers Ben and Chloe are thrilled to be chosen—until they arrive. The village is isolated and forgotten. There is no record of its history, its stories. There is no friendliness from the locals, only wary looks and whispers. The villagers lock down their homes at sundown. A nameless fear stalks the streets. Nobody will talk—nobody except one little girl. Her story strikes dread into the hearts of the newcomers. Three times you see him. Each night he comes closer.

MESSED UP & STUPID ENDING
Reviewed: 07-01-24
The story was really great until you get to the last 2 or 3 chapters. I think everyone loves a great mystery, but no one loves a messed up, hopeless, and anticlimactic ending. A.M. Shine would do well to learn that, lest most of us start dreading & shunning his books (for fear of them ending in depressing and unfulfilling ways).
