Fantastic writinng and story telling which was way to drawn out and not very easy to get into. Convulluted in many parts and could have condensed most of that material into a book a 3rd of the size and still had a better more coherent story.

The barred owl is native to Eastern North America. It is a nocturnal bird with rich baritone hooting calls. Members of a pair often use such hooting sounds to talk to each other. Although the bird is mostly nocturnal, it will also call and even hunt in the daytime. Owl calls have specific deep and mysterious character. This recording offers continuous barred owl bird calls recorded in their natural habitat, together with other birds and forest creatures.

A very complex and craftily written story from start to finish. It was interesting to listen to the anecdotal and historical accounts of daily life in the familiar places to me, mentioned about my country. Some very tragic scenes though, hope life gets easier for Sean Courtney. Brilliant narrator too. 5 stars *****.

Reviewed: 05-10-21
Mostly well written and the narration itself lends itself to quite an atmospheric Roman-theme inspired tale, the sex scenes were definitely the highlights 😂 , the story and magic systems - a little flat and used in other books before. Not bad, worth a listen, will listen to the sequel.

Story
"The Secret" is set in the world where the Broken Empire and Red Queen's War trilogies take place. I've been writing short stories based on the various members of Jorg Ancrath's brotherhood of the road, exploring their origins. When I saw that the Blackguards anthology was seeking tales of assassins, I thought it was time to write about Brother Sim.

Atmospheric, unusual little tale. The world of The Broken Empire I always imagine to be like something out of the Diablo pc games and the descriptions here brought it to life in that way again. The narrator was great and I hope that this storyline could be expanded on and explored more in the future. 5 stars: *****.

Story
Prince of Thorns is the first volume in a powerful new epic fantasy trilogy, original, absorbing and challenging. Before the thorns taught me their sharp lessons and bled weakness from me I had but one brother, and I loved him well. But those days are gone and what is left of them lies in my mother's tomb. Now I have many brothers, quick with knife and sword, and as evil as you please. We ride this broken empire and loot its corpse.

Craftily written and flawlessly narrated take on a story I imagined to be far darker, but again- found to be perfect in every sense of the word, with awesome world building and endearing, memorable characters. The storyline carried with it a surprising twist about halfway through and I can't wait to listen to the sequels to find out what happens. Money and recreation time well spent! - only one concern: and that was some of the gratituitous and unnecessary depictions of violence towards animals, never goes down well and for that it definitely needs to lose a star or two. 3.5 stars: ***/*.
