Story
A Secret Service operative and dedicated survivalist, Special Agent Del Roosevelt had a plan for every world-ending scenario and regularly trained for them all. He was even ready for a date with the hottest woman in his office next Friday. At least he hoped so. But all that training, all those rations, all that prepping? Useless for the apocalypse that actually played out. Del wakes up half-buried in a giant trash pile, missing his thumbs. And, um, covered in red fur. He's stuck in a world of fuzzy monsters, senseless violence, and cult-like crusaders.

Fresh and fun and interesting

It is pleasant to see new work from Eric in a new setting, with great storytelling, and literary structure that I have come to expect from him. I look forward to the second book in the series.

Story
Rob didn't think of himself as anyone special, but when a pitch-black portal tried to wrap his best friend in chains, he stepped up without thinking and found himself ensnared instead. His moment of heroism results in being torn away from everyone he knew and loved, kidnapped by an unknown force that leaves him with a note in his pocket stating: "Good luck." After being thrown into the wilderness of Elatra, a hostile fantasy world ruled by levels, stats, progression, and bizarre video game logic, he finds himself entirely out of his depth.

Good narration, but lackluster story arc
Reviewed: 08-16-24
The author does a very poor job of putting forth a reasonable situation for the protagonist and others to be in. Animals are going crazy in the wilderness over time, and none of the characters do anything to investigate it instead they just react to it in a panic.

Jake’s story is a wonderful tale of adventure, as well as triumph over hardship and one’s own goofiness.
It will draw you in with the wonderful tapestry of the mind that is created in your imagination as you listen to JR spin his tale.
The story is truly one of a kind!

While their bodies are locked in special auto-maintenance virtual capsules, the prisoners' minds are released into Barliona's virtual mines.

Argrave's harrowing journey to the Burnt Desert left him at death’s door, but breathed new life into his group by adding a fresh face to the party… if a severed head on a stick can be considered a proper companion. His goal is in sight within this foreign land with a tradition of hostility, and the royal bastard stands at the cusp of becoming black-blooded. All of the magic, components, and requisite skills are close at hand.

Story
The car crash was the last thing I remembered...then I woke up here. Where "here" was felt like an impossible nightmare. I died, but this wasn't what I'd expected to find when they said I'd meet my maker. The afterlife is just like a video game, except I didn't start in a noob world like everybody else. I started out on one of the most challenging dungeon worlds meant only for ancient souls who've been dead much longer than I have.... Welcome to Epoc.

Good grammar, check
Good structure, check
Good narrator, check
Good story development, failed.
The story is poorly planned out and not consistent with the facts that are established as it develops. Characters make choices that are not consistent with their personalities. Also, the author does not have a good understanding of the difference between an unstable computer, one infected with a virus and how malware works.

Story
The bastard’s more royal sibling and their deranged father are struggling to tether a kingdom on the brink of civil war. Necromantic atrocities free of their long-dead creators and the order of knights meant to contain them veritably compete to prove which one can be a deadlier obstacle to Argrave’s plans. But he knows something that they don’t, something that will make him grimly move forward no matter the cost.
