I can immerse myself for days again and again in Arthur Conan Doyle’s world. It takes me to an era where I’m not just passing time, but living in those moments with Holmes, Watson and their adventures. Those days will never come again, but we can go there.

The horrible, monotonous narration simply destroys the author’s work. This audiobook is not listenable. Wish there was some sort of an approval process.

Having read this as a teenager, and now picking up the courage to read this again, this book transports you into an era where simplicity in itself sufficed. People were pretentious, judgmental and very, very distant. You can see that complete change in behavior when you have riches, which is almost comical, in that you see it even today, well over a century later. The line between the working class and nobility, the complete inability to speak your mind when you need to due to the fear of being judged or misjudged, all emotions captured beautifully in simple, elegant prose. This book took me out of this world, amidst distractions and all, even if only for moments here and there. Great read of you are into the English literature of last century. A true classic.

What an in-person narrative that takes you through the mind of a serial killer. John brings his life to the listener. How he gave his all, to the art of reasoning, and how families pay the price for such commitment to a cause is really magnified here. The upholders of the law are humans too. The compromises they make to create the world’s greatest democracy is oft underestimated. Applies to all occupations, actually. If we all applied the same commitment to our respective occupations, the world would be a better place. Good book. Thank you.

Good story. It reflects well if you grew up in a village or city where summer vacations meant Friend's and memories.

Raw, uncut, untethered emotion. All captured in a breathtakingly emotional story that drives every emotion in the reader. From intense love to untamed fury and unquestionable loyalty. Values that only exist in works of literature today.

Any additional comments?

The ability to lose yourself in an audiobook with the keys to imagination open has been destroyed by the narrator.
