Story
Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life. Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him. It’s such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother’s best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him.

As a successful film liaison, Elisha Rowe has her heart set on one thing and one thing only: putting her hometown back on the map. So, when she gets the chance to secure the long-hoped-for sequel to Sleighbells under Starlight, a beloved holiday movie, she's willing to do whatever it takes to make sure everything goes smoothly. Unfortunately, that includes claiming to have already gotten permission to film at the historic Christmas house—permission she was very much denied by the gorgeous new owner.

Not sure if this was the author's first title, but it was drawn out, over-explained and immature...and I am only four chapters in. I will not finish. Save your credits.

DNF. The MH was an a$$hole of the highest degree. Belittled H, humiliated her, gaslighted her….this is not romantic. And if you find yourself in a relationship like this, don’t romanticize it with books like this leading you to believe there is a HEA coming. Get out.

Story
I have a nice life—living in my hometown and owning the coffee shop I’ve worked at since I was 16. It’s comfortable on paper, but I’m tired of doing everything by myself. Tired of being in charge of every decision in my life. I want someone to lean on, someone to spend time with, sit with, hug. And I really don’t want to go to my best friend’s wedding alone. So, I signed up for a dating app and agreed to meet with the first guy that messaged me. Now here I am, at the bar. Only it’s not my date that just sat down in the chair across from me. It’s his dad.

Story
I kept smiling when I caught my fiancé coming down my sister’s chimney on Christmas Eve. I gave polite congratulations when they got engaged. And I even offered to help decorate for their Christmas wedding despite the fact that was supposed to be my dream wedding. But when my sister cuts up my great-grandmother’s one-hundred-year-old wedding dress and turns it into a skank show, even though that was the dress I was going to wear on my wedding day? Well, this elf is torching down the North Pole.

Not much romance
Reviewed: 11-30-23
The narrators, especially the male, did a great job.
The story (what little of it there was) lacked…everything. A likable heroine. A book boyfriend. What it had plenty of was over the top, egregious sex witnessed by all sorts of family members (?!?!), a ridiculous plot, unbelievable dialogue and cringeworthy dirty talk. Disappointed I wasted a credit on this. I will say Granny Murray was funny.

This should be tagged as Christian fiction.

Somehow, without it being in the tags, I keep getting books recommended that preach religion and finding god. If you are into Christian stories, then this won’t bother you. But if you like your romantic suspense sans sermons, skip this one.
