Story
They were a perfect and beautiful family - until a heartbreaking tragedy shattered their happiness. Now, for the sake of an inheritance that will ensure their future, the children must be hidden away out of sight, as if they never existed. They are kept in the attic of their grandmother’s labyrinthine mansion, isolated and alone. As the visits from their seemingly unconcerned mother slowly dwindle, the four children grow ever closer and depend upon one another to survive both this cramped world and their cruel grandmother.

A cruel and twisted tale

The story was as riveting as it was disturbing. I felt so deeply for the children locked away in the attic. I cried at many parts in the novel. This is a tragedy so profound. And the performance was incredible.

Story
In Real Queer America, Samantha Allen takes us on a cross-country road-trip stretching all the way from Provo, Utah to the Rio Grande Valley to the Bible Belt to the Deep South. Her motto for the trip: "Something gay every day." Making pit stops at drag shows, political rallies, and hubs of queer life across the heartland, she introduces us to scores of extraordinary LGBT people working for change, from the first openly transgender mayor in Texas history to the manager of the only queer night club in Bloomington, Indiana, and many more.

Perfect!

As a gay ex Mormon from Utah, I related in some ways to Samantha’s experience. I thought for so long that I wanted to move to a bigger city. Don’t get me wrong. I still really want to leave Utah. It never felt like home to me. But reading this book has made me rethink on where I want to move to. It has left me with a lot of introspective questions.

I loved this performance of my favorite play of all time. The parts are well played with the characters so expressive. Angels in America speaks so clearly and beautifully to me as a gay Ex-Mormon. It is like therapy to me and it makes me cry every time I read it.

I was floored by how much I enjoyed this book. I’ll admit it got a little choppy toward the end, but I couldn’t stop listening. The characters and setting were elevated by the narrator.
