About this listen

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the enduring gothic masterpiece Flowers in the Attic - the unforgettable forbidden love story that earned V.C. Andrews a fiercely devoted fan base and became an international cult classic.

At the top of the stairs there are four secrets hidden - blond, innocent, and fighting for their lives....

They were a perfect and beautiful family - until a heartbreaking tragedy shattered their happiness. Now, for the sake of an inheritance that will ensure their future, the children must be hidden away out of sight, as if they never existed. They are kept in the attic of their grandmother’s labyrinthine mansion, isolated and alone. As the visits from their seemingly unconcerned mother slowly dwindle, the four children grow ever closer and depend upon one another to survive both this cramped world and their cruel grandmother. A suspenseful and thrilling tale of family, greed, murder, and forbidden love, Flowers in the Attic is the unputdownable first novel of the epic Dollanganger family saga.

The Dollanganger series includes: Flowers in the Attic, Petals in the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, Garden of Shadows, Beneath the Attic, and Out of the Attic.

Highly recommend audio

Narrator is perfection and makes the awful, salacious writing really enjoyable! Still couldn’t stop listening.

Fast Forward the Foreword!

This book was mostly ruined for me when I discovered the darkest secret of the story during the foreword. I read on, but I knew what was coming, so it wasn’t as riveting. If you like vicious, self-righteous, evil monsters that are unfathomably cruel, this book is for you.

Sad..

Money and wealth can cause some people to be crazy! And so stupid! And heartless!

Rough

If you are like me and cannot handle shrill voices, stay away from this narrators Carrie voice . However, she does a wonderful job with the voice of the main character.

Mena Suvari is Cathy...Wow!!

As you reading along, Mena’s voice gives the story life as though it was told by the real Cathy Dollanganger. Amazing reproduction of this story.

Perfect!!

I read the paperback version of this and the sequels when they came out 40 years ago. The narrator was so good that I could imagine I was Cathy.... then and now. I can't wait until the next book is released on the 29th.

Keeps you clinging for the next chapters

I had read Flowers In the Attic series as a young girl. At 51, I wanted to read again as I had forgotten the full storyline. Narrated so well; it’s like having a window to watch as the story played out.
Looking forward to book 2, Petals in The Wind. Hoping it will be narrated by Mena Suvari as well.
