A Must Leadership Tool.
Reviewed: 06-20-23
I find it interesting, reading through poor or less than stellar reviews, what was said about this book, As a husband, father, and administrator of a hospital, the principles outlined in this book are invaluable. Disclosure: I am a big proponent of personal development. Many reviews claim this book will not help because people are unpredictable. To those, I recommend you read through the book again with an intent and focus on this very issue. My wife and I have both read this book, and it has improved our communication to get to the source of the matter. After 22 years together, we've concluded ourselves that most arguments were a result of misunderstanding. Now, we have the tools to better handle these situations and get to the root cause of things. I have used the concepts with my four children as well as with my mother, who can drive me crazy at times. I have utilized this book as a mentorship tool with employees at work. Having one an one sessions to better them as a leader and ultimately strengthening my team. I will admit, it is a lot of concepts to digest and implement, so take your time, practice, and as with everything you devote energy into, you will grasp it and become better at dialouge. Finally, one read through will not be sufficient to grasp it all. It will require continual effort on your part if you want to learn and implement these concepts.

A friend recommended I read this after she was appalled at me stating I really liked the movie. I must say after completing this the two do not line up at all. Regardless, while I enjoyed the book, I am still a fan of the movie as well. The reader for this audible does a fantastic job. Definitely recommend it.

Great process, but a bit repetitive
Reviewed: 07-20-20
Process is great in the disciplines sound. I take nothing away from the authors process itself only from the length of the book. In my personal opinion I feel they could have been half as long. Some of the examples towards the end made it as if there is just dragging off. If you get through the 1st half you will have all the meat and potatoes you need to move forward and the examples are plenty.

Having read many leader said bugs, It was refreshing to have a story told in this manner. I would recommend this book. Now as with every other book, presentation, ect, applying these techniques is key for success

More storing telling then personal development
Reviewed: 02-09-16
being a student of personal development I found this book to be of interest, that is until and read through it. while the book is written well it has little to do with personal development and more to do with great storytelling. if you're on a road trip and need something to listen to I definitely recommend it. if you're looking to change your habits I recommend the book "Eat your Frog".
