Animal Dreams is a passionate and complex novel about love, forgiveness, and one woman's struggle to find her place in the world. At the end of her rope, Codi Noline returns to her Arizona home to face her ailing father, with whom she has a difficult, distant relationship. Recommend. I couldn’t put it down. I look into life, hurt, and what we hold dear, and how to go on.

Story
An extraordinary debut novel of love that survives the fires of hell and transcends the boundaries of time. The narrator of The Gargoyle is a very contemporary cynic, physically beautiful and sexually adept, who dwells in the moral vacuum that is modern life. As the book opens, he is driving along a dark road when he is distracted by what seems to be a flight of arrows.

Story
Born on a plantation in Charles City, Virginia, Pheby Delores Brown has lived a relatively sheltered life. Shielded by her mother’s position as the estate’s medicine woman and cherished by the Master’s sister, she is set apart from the others on the plantation, belonging to neither world. She’d been promised freedom on her eighteenth birthday, but instead of the idyllic life she imagined with her true love, Essex Henry, Pheby is forced to leave the only home she has ever known. She unexpectedly finds herself thrust into the bowels of slavery at the infamous Devil’s Half Acre.

Incredible. Will pull at your heart and you will weep with the characters. Highly recommend. Exceptional historical fiction that will leave you with an understanding of the crimes against humanity through this time period. I will have my children read when they are a little older. This book should be highly rewarded.

Story
The greatest investment advisor of the 20th century, Benjamin Graham taught and inspired people worldwide. Graham's philosophy of "value investing" - which shields investors from substantial error and teaches them to develop long-term strategies - has made The Intelligent Investor the stock market Bible ever since its original publication in 1949.

A Must Read
Reviewed: 08-30-21
This text is a must read for anyone interested in managing their own investments. I’d recommend reading a couple beginner texts first, if you don’t have a background in finance (like myself). Also, I found it best to read the paperback version first (charts are valuable, some difficult concepts for me). However, I plan on listening to the audiobook annually as a refresher. Especially, grateful to be “rereading” the audiobook now while the S&P is at all-time highs.
