Story
Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

Story
Our love story is simple. I met a gorgeous woman. We fell in love. We had kids. We moved to the suburbs. We told each other our biggest dreams and our darkest secrets. And then we got bored. We look like a normal couple. We're your neighbors, the parents of your kid's friend, the acquaintances with whom you keep meaning to get dinner. We all have our secrets to keeping a marriage alive. Ours just happens to be getting away with murder.

Great generational story! Narration is amazing! The story is a side-by-side , one set in the 1880s and the other in the 1990s. It remains suspenseful up to the final chapter. Highly recommend.

Integrity. Purely.
Reviewed: 10-08-23
I loved the author’s own voice in telling this amazing story. Cassidy’s attention to detail helps portray that power and the ideas of one small faction inside a party can nearly bring down a democratic society. Why don’t people read and listen and research for themselves any more, rather than supporting such ridiculous claims?
Three cheers for Cassidy Hutchinson holding fast and allowing her moral consciousness to guide her at such a young age.
