Some very funny telling of the antics of the Greek gods but I got caught in the weeds as the names are hard to remember and keep straight. Fun read

Little bit longish but great reflection on the 1930’s. Frightening similarities to 2024. You know what happened in the end but still hang in there to hear how it happened. Wish the narrator made the races more exciting but overall worth the trip

Meandering story that wandered all over the place. Author got caught in the weeds which I found distracting.

No matter your politics it is important to know all sides of an issue. Definitely has a bias but it is the bias of a huge cohort of the country and therefore worth listening to for INTELLIGENT conversation. Knee jerk rejection of these ideas is ignorant.

It was okay and kept me interested to find out what happens in the end. But The people in this story seem a little dense and at times snarky. No one thought to go look in the area the child came from for 5 months? Long with lots of superfluous details.

Reviewers who think this is a cheerleader for China makes me wonder if they even listened to the book. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it…or maybe history will just repeat itself anyway. We in America need to stop the culture wars, stop spending and printing money to cover bills congress continues to approve as if we had it, increase and improve education to everyone and get back to being productive. Is it too late?

This is the 3rd in the kingsbridge series and the worst. I felt like I was reading the same book again. Same characters, different names and times.

Jia is an excellent writer and the book is well researched ; But, the whole thing comes off as a Millennial treatise on all that is wrong with the contemporary life Millennials so enjoy…written by a Millennial. Discussions of the ills of our times, racism, misogyny, climate change, etc seem as though no one really thought these were abhorrent until Millennials discovered them. Interesting take on the world and interesting historical references make it a worthwhile read.
