I really wanted to like this book, but I found it so boring, and it just never got better. The ending was not very satisfying either. Would not recommend.

One of my favorite books of all time!
Reviewed: 09-08-24
I've read (listened to) A LOT of books in this genre, and this one continues to be an all-time favorite. Carmen Rose's narration is fantastic, seamlessly shifting between a British and Scottish accent, and she adds so much to an already well written story. There are some laugh-out-loud funny moments, plenty of varied spice, truly endearing moments, and a very engaging storyline with a beautiful and satisfying conclusion. I've already listened to this book a number of times, and I don't get tired of it. It's my go-to when I want to listen to a book I know I'll enjoy. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Story
Georgiana Bridgerton isn’t against the idea of marriage. She’d just thought she’d have some say in the matter. But with her reputation hanging by a thread after she’s abducted for her dowry, Georgie is given two options: live out her life as a spinster or marry the rogue who has ruined her life. Enter option number three.... As the fourth son of an earl, Nicholas Rokesby is prepared to chart his own course. But when he discovers that Georgie Bridgerton - his literal girl next door - is facing ruin, he knows what he must do.

Wanted to love it, but . . .
Reviewed: 07-29-22
I've been enjoying Julia Quinn's novels, but I have to say this is my least favorite so far. I did like that there was a profession discussed and we didn't get the usual description of the season, balls, etc., but there wasn't really a conflict, the plot was lacking, and certain scenes such as the carriage ride with the cats was drawn out too long. When Georgiana initially turned down Nicholas's proposal, I got my hopes up for a plot similar to Pride & Prejudice, but nope, and I felt like that was such a lost opportunity. Enjoyable enough, but overall a disappointment. Rosalyn Landor, of course, did a stellar job narrating, as usual.

Jermaine Jackson—older than Michael by four years—offers a keenly observed and surprisingly candid memoir tracing Michael’s life starting with their shared childhood and extending through the Jackson 5 years, Michael’s phenomenal solo career, his loves, his suffering, and his tragic end which sparked worldwide grief. It is a sophisticated, no-holds-barred examination of the man, aimed at fostering a true and final understanding of who he was, why he was, and what shaped him.

Better Than Expected
Reviewed: 11-22-21
I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan (even have a tattoo) and have read or listened to several books on MJ. I had this one on my wish list for quite a while before finally purchasing it. I have to say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I do feel you have to take much of what Jermaine says from his own account with a grain of salt, as he paints himself in the best possible light and as a loving, faithful brother no matter what. I think there's more resentment there (some of it understandable) than he lets on. But having such direct insight into Michael's childhood life was pretty fascinating, and I enjoyed the early chapters quite a bit. Jermaine's account of "Word to the Badd" and the leaked lyrics was interesting and I'm glad he included the back story on that. It was obvious in the later chapters that Michael had distanced himself from much of his family by then and Jermaine didn't have as much firsthand knowledge. I still believe Jermaine sugarcoated some of his accounts to make himself look better, but overall, I'm glad to have experienced this book and will probably listen to it again at some point. Like others, I was taken aback by the narrator, Jermaine Jackson, Jr., because of his deep voice, and I genuinely wish that Jermaine Sr. had narrated it himself. It would've helped the book feel even more authentic. Other than that, though, I would recommend this book to MJ fans.

Story
Once upon a time, a historical romance author created a family.... But not just any family. Eight brothers and sisters, assorted in-laws, sons and daughters, nieces and nephews (not to mention an overweight corgi), plus an irrepressible matriarch who's a match for any of them.... These are the Bridgertons: less a family than a force of nature. Through eight best-selling novels, listeners laughed, cried, and fell in love. But they wanted more.

Wish they had kept the original narrator
Reviewed: 10-19-21
I'm glad that I purchased this because I wanted a little bit more after finishing all the other Bridgerton audiobooks. For some reason, the audiobook I had for Eloise did not have the second epilogue, so it was the first time I heard it with this book, and then, of course, Violet's novella was new as well. My only complaint was that I wish they had used the original female narrator from the other books, who did a wonderful job. This was a male narrator who sounded either Scottish or Irish, and he gave Colin an extremely baritone voice which sounded horrific for that character. Other than that, it was worth the purchase to complete the collection.

Enjoyed the movie much more than the book
Reviewed: 09-20-17
I purchased this book to listen to because I loved the movie. Usually, the book is better than the movie, but, unfortunately, that was not the case here for me. The story had unnecessary characters, primarily the reporter, and just was not that enjoyable to listen to, especially with the narrator chosen for this book, who sounded much too formal except when he did impersonations of certain characters. Overall, quite a disappointment for me.
