Story
Mary Coles and her husband, Graham, have just moved to a cottage on the edge of a small village. The house hasn't been lived in for years, but they are drawn to its original features and surprisingly large garden, which stretches down into a beautiful apple orchard. It's idyllic, remote, picturesque: exactly what they need to put the horror of the past behind them.

Unfinished .....
Reviewed: 05-22-21
I love Elizabeth Knowleden and that is the reason I listened to this audiobook. She is my favorite narrator. I felt like the buildup in this story was not connected in the end and I was expecting the loose ends to be tied up. It just felt unfinished. In my opinion, it was a missed opportunity for a good story.

Story
Elle Stowell is a young woman with an unconventional profession: burglary. But Elle is no petty thief - with just the right combination of smarts, looks, and skills, she can easily stroll through ritzy Bel Air neighborhoods and pick out the perfect home for plucking the most valuable items. This is how Elle has always gotten by - she is good at it, and she thrives on the thrill. But after stumbling upon a grisly triple homicide while stealing from the home of a wealthy art dealer, Elle discovers she is no longer the only one sneaking around. Somebody is searching for her.

Narration ruined it for me
Reviewed: 01-13-21
The story started really good and then started to lag. The narration is so bad that it makes it hard to finish the book. I hate to leave a story unfinished as it's not fair to judge it if you don't finish it. I just couldn't wait for this one to end. With a different narrator, it might have been o.k. I certainly can't recommend it. The narrator seemed bored and had no enthusiasm at all.

Story
Everything starts somewhere. For elite military cop Jack Reacher, that somewhere was Carter Crossing, Mississippi, way back in 1997. A young woman is dead, and solid evidence points to a soldier at a nearby military base. But that soldier has powerful friends in Washington. Reacher is ordered undercover - to find out everything he can, to control the local police, and then to vanish. Reacher is a good soldier. But when he gets to Carter Crossing, he finds layers no one saw coming, and the investigation spins out of control.

IT'S GREAT - BUT......
Reviewed: 06-26-20
I've always counted on Lee Child to deliver a fantastic Jack Reacher story and he has delivered. However, in this one, for the first time (I've been reading since book one) he has started to resort to the cheap sex scenes that so many other authors have chosen. I quit reading Nora Roberts because she has gone too far and I hope Lee Child does not go down that road. It is unnecessary and distracts from the story. Mr. Child's stories are fantastic and I feel I learn something from each one. I look forward to each book. That is the only reason I gave this 4 stars. Take out the cheap sex and I would definitely give it the 5 stars it deserves. Dick Hill is a fantastic narrator and perfect for the Jack Reacher character.

In the LAPD's Open-Unsolved Unit, not many murder victims die almost a decade after the crime. So when a man succumbs to complications from being shot by a stray bullet nine years earlier, Bosch catches a case in which the body is still fresh, but all other evidence is virtually nonexistent. Now Bosch and rookie Detective Lucia Soto, are tasked with solving what turns out to be a highly charged, politically sensitive case.

Narrator ruins this story
Reviewed: 01-23-20
The Narrator sounds so bored he can barely read the story. This is another great Harry Bosch story which is almost impossible to listen to. I bought the whole series because I became hooked at book one. If I had known about this narrator, I would not have done that. This is so unfair to the author because he has a great series. If someone were to listen to this book first, they wouldn't give the others a chance. The early books are great.

Story
Harry Bosch is up to his neck in a case that has transfixed all of celebrity-mad Los Angeles: a movie director is charged with murdering an actress during sex and then staging her death to make it look like a suicide. Bosch is both the arresting officer and the star witness in a trial that has brought the Hollywood media pack out in full-throated frenzy. Meanwhile, Terry McCaleb is enjoying an idyllic retirement on Catalina Island when a visit from an old colleague brings his former world rushing back.

Bring back Dick Hill as Narrator
Reviewed: 12-24-19
This is another great Harry Bosch story and I enjoyed it. I didn't love the narrator. I wouldn't let that stop you from listening to the story but it is hard to distinguish the voices from Terry McCaleb and Harry Bosch. This story is more Terry McCaleb than Harry Bosch but it is still good. I am looking forward to the next Harry Bosch story.

Overall - A delightful story

I enjoyed this book because I live in Deep Creek Lake and I thought the area and people were accurately portrayed. The mystery is light and enjoyable with a surprising twist. The downside was the narrator. It is so unfair to the author to have an interesting and enjoyable story and have a narrator that uses a monotone and uninteresting quality to her voice, almost a bored tone that distracts from the listening experience. I would still recommend this book as it has an interesting story line and a character that just won't quit. I look forward to another story in this series (with a different narrator) and hope that the first book in the series becomes available on audible.
