Great eye opener

This is the second time I've read this book and it is one of my favorite eye openers. Knowing the influences of brands and marketing should help us fight them, or at least be aware of them in our lives.

Scott Adams has likely failed at more things than anyone you’ve ever met or anyone you’ve even heard of. So how did he go from hapless office worker and serial failure to the creator of Dilbert, one of the world’s most famous syndicated comic strips, in just a few years? In How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big, Adams shares the strategy he has used since he was a teen to invite failure in, to embrace it, then pick its pocket.

Great stuff! (except one section)
Reviewed: 05-15-15
A lot of good life nuggets in an entertaining format. Skip the section on nutrition. It's a lot of anecdotal speculation (i.e. "Eat as much cheese as you want, it worked for me"). He is not a doctor or nutritional its and says so in the book, but proceeds to write 30 pages on the topic anyway. The rest of it was very good and consistent with a lot of other good books.

Simplified, but not quite simple.
Reviewed: 02-21-15
With a general knowledge of statistics this book is a great refresher and simple explanation of statistical principles. If you are starting from scratch this book is still a little too deep. But anyone reading it will get something from it. The stories are well told and the examples are funny. Overall an enjoyable book.

Story
Who understood the risk inherent in the assumption of ever-rising real-estate prices, a risk compounded daily by the creation of those arcane, artificial securities loosely based on piles of doubtful mortgages? Michael Lewis turns the inquiry on its head to create a fresh, character-driven narrative brimming with indignation and dark humor, a fitting sequel to his number-one best-selling Liar’s Poker.

Too much swearing.
Reviewed: 09-22-11
This is a business book but it swears so much that I could not focus on the content. I expect that books like this would be a little more professional and politically correct. I got through about 45 minutes of it and after 20 or so "F" bombs I just quit listening. I wish that the author had considered the audience of books like this. We are professionals, not street gangs. If there were an edited version I think that it would be really great read because it was engaging for the most part.
