Story
Iris and Gabriel have just arrived home from a make-or-break holiday. But a shock awaits them. One of their closest friends, Laure, is in their house. The atmosphere quickly becomes tense as she oversteps again and again: sleeping in their bed, wearing Iris' clothes, even rearranging the furniture. Laure has walked out on her husband—and their good friend—Pierre, over his confession of an affair and a secret child. Iris and Gabriel want to be supportive of their friends, but as Laure's mood becomes increasingly unpredictable, her presence takes its toll.

Good concept, great narration. But I found myself getting frustrated with the meandering story and lack of a climax…just sort of faded away.

I thought this was a great pace for a mystery. There were plenty of characters to keep you guessing, but not so many to be overwhelming. The narrator was excellent.

Our love story is simple. I met a gorgeous woman. We fell in love. We had kids. We moved to the suburbs. We told each other our biggest dreams and our darkest secrets. And then we got bored. We look like a normal couple. We're your neighbors, the parents of your kid's friend, the acquaintances with whom you keep meaning to get dinner. We all have our secrets to keeping a marriage alive. Ours just happens to be getting away with murder.

Story
The true story of what took place in Donald Trump’s White House during a disastrous 2020 has never before been told in full. What was really going on around the president, as the government failed to contain the coronavirus and over half a million Americans perished? Who was influencing Trump after he refused to concede an election he had clearly lost and spread lies about election fraud? To answer these questions, Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig reveal a dysfunctional and bumbling presidency’s inner workings in unprecedented, stunning detail.

Narration was great! The story, if you didn’t know to be true, just seems unbelievable that we elected someone who so clearly had no intentions to serve the American people and just feed his own ego and pockets. The story of all the enablers is even more engrossing, though not excusable.

Well presented

I’m always on the search for a good ghost story. I thought the style of writing definitely made this book sound like it was literally written in the 19th century, which is what made it so unique. The voice talent was spot on and only made it feel more authentic. The pace may not be as quick as some current day stories are but if you can get past that it’s a very good story.

Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Voice talent decreases rating, pace is slow
Reviewed: 10-30-19
This is my first Jack Reacher book. I may not be able to listen to any more. The voice actor is talented but did not sound like Jack, who is supposed to be in his 30s. The actor sounded like a grandpa, which made it very hard to process. Plus, you almost need more than one voice actor for so many characters in one book. They all sounded the same. The book to me seemed to drag out too much as well. I invested in the whole story because I wanted to finish what I started but every chapter took sooooo long. Such long descriptions...just lost me. Pace too slow. You have to listen at 1.25 speed and it will still seem too long.

Voice Talent amazing
Reviewed: 01-17-19
What could be a slightly challenging book for audio was made so engrossing and interesting due to the amazing voice talent. He could change voices by character, by accent, age and sex. Fantastic. Haven’t seen the related movies but found it interesting that the girl with the dragon tattoo actually had a minor role in the story. Great story though.
