Great Narration
Reviewed: 01-04-25
I feel like the story was a little long winded, especially considering the subject matter, but profound nonetheless. I’m surprised by some of the themes presented in the book, you don’t typically see them in books like this. The narrator did exceptionally well with her tone inflections that just made it feel very real.

The vampire prince has never claimed a human. Until now. My whole life I’ve been nothing but a means to an end; livestock kept caged for the production of blood. I’ve stared through fences at the promise of freedom countless times, but the only way anyone escapes this hell is in the hands of a bloodsucker.

I don’t know why I ever doubted that I would like something that the twisted sisters wrote(I’ve read almost everything so far). I was so entranced by Zodiac Academy that I just couldn’t start something else until it was finished. I’m sooo glad I did. The narrator was perfect for this series as well! And with Troy being the guy in later books, it’s entertainment at its finest. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. The entire team, from writers to narrators, you guys set the bar. Thank you! 😘

I love this series
Reviewed: 11-08-23
I love the wild goose chase that this series is. I’m still in shock that this series truly doesn’t have the hype that it deserves. My only critique is that the narrator has this great calculating serious voice that is totally fortuna, but even in the “passionate” moments her inflictions are too series, detached. But totally minor because I can kind of contribute it to Fortuna just being so guarded.

Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though–not even with a lifetime of training.

Reviewed: 11-02-23
Thank heaven Stina stopped saying ether all annoying, but what even happened in this book? The whole book felt like filler. I actually skipped a lot, I was getting angry listening to the rambling, the over explanation of things we already know. The vampry thing made me soo mad, why couldn’t it have been revenants that we learned about? I’m genuinely soo disappointed in this book. I thought Sera would boss up and she did for like .5 seconds and then reverted back. Ugh now we have to wait a year before the actual story starts to happen? Only one plot moving thing actually happened in this book and it happened at the very end! And then was cheapened by all the ridiculous dialogue after. I’m upset, I was genuinely soo excited for this book. None of the FBAA books were this bad.. and i actually preferred sera’s story over poppy’s.

*SPOILER*
I appreciated the HEA. I feel like Emilia’s whole discovery build up was great, however the character arc was just ridiculous. She was a Goddess of Fury, ruled over the damn sin of Vengeance only to marry in to the house of Wrath and the best “revenge” she got was burning a freaking restaurant?? I get that she was more mortal now and stuff but to lose pretty much all of the rage and fury? Then for them to give La Prima away after all she had done!? And then! The cost to break the curse?? I hate when FMC’s have to give up their power, but then to find out she didn’t even have to? So many things weren’t even covered while other useless crap was just beaten to death. The whole thing with the werewolf from greeds court? Useless.. and the freaking Narrator! That whole wonder infliction thing she did at the end of EVERY sentence just drove me insane. I almost didn’t finish it but to DNF it this close to the end seemed stupid.
With all that said, I did really like the first 2 books, and the way she did the enemies to lovers trope was nice. An inspired spin on a “Beauty and the Beast” type vibe. I really liked the world with all the scheming and cunning. Though I thought Hell should have been more ruthless. Overall, the build up from the first 2 books fell flat in this book. Not awful but not great.

Story
The Vega twins are alive. Those five words circle in my mind like an oncoming storm. They change everything about the future we thought had been set in stone. They challenge everything we were raised to be and the stability of the entire kingdom. They’re coming to our academy looking for the life that was stolen from them, but we can’t let them take it back. So much hangs in the balance and we can’t risk the arrival of two naïve princesses destroying everything we worked so hard for. I have stood in the shadow of Lionel Acrux for far too long already.
