What a Concept!
Reviewed: 05-01-23
I have enjoyed Nathan Timmel's humor for several years, so was surprised to learn he had also dipped his toes into the world of crime fiction.
After I read a synopsis of the plot of We Are 100, I HAD to order it from Audible ASAP! I love the story AND Nathan's narration.
I can reassure anyone who cares that I am not a gung-ho fan boy who will forgive any weaknesses in the total production. As a retired Language Arts teacher and private tutor, I hear any plot holes, bad grammar, or mispronunciations loudly and clearly! I am happy to report no plot holes, only one unintended grammar error, and two mispronunciations by the author/narrator. Well done, Nathan, editors, and other support staff!
I can't wait until Nathan lands a gig within 50 miles of Green Bay, Wisconsin--I'll be there!

Story
What? You don’t know Adam Wade? Here’s your chance! Adam Wade’s personal-yet-universal stories and vulnerable delivery have made him one of the most popular storytellers and comedians in the country on "story slam" platforms like The Moth and Comedy Central’s Whiplash. This Audible Original, performed on stage in front of a live audience, combines Wade’s greatest hits stories with entirely new material.

Not Funny

I've only read the first chapter and it was terrible! Not funny, terrible delivery. I'm doing this review now so I can read other reviews to see if it gets better.
I've now read more, and it DOESN'T get any better!
The stories might be mildly interesting if Wade's delivery wasn't so unprofessional. Nothing is funny, OR heartwarming!
Wade must have hired all his friends to post all those 5 star reviews...smh!

Not-so-bright Shrink!

This story was well written and well narrated.
The one flaw that did deeply disappoint me was that the protagonist wasn't much more logical or disciplined than the idiot teenagers in slasher films.
It seemed like she made the wrong decision every time she had to solve a problem.
Other than that characterization, Tell Me Lies was a strong, interesting story.

Story
Virgil knows the town of Trippton, Minnesota, a little too well. A few years back, he investigated the corrupt - and, as it turned out, homicidal - local school board, and now the town's back in view with more alarming news: A woman's been found dead, frozen in a block of ice. There's a possibility that it might be connected to a high school class of 20 years ago that has a midwinter reunion coming up, and so, wrapping his coat a little tighter, Virgil begins to dig into 20 years' worth of traumas, feuds, and bad blood.

QUIRKY MINNESOTANS!
Reviewed: 07-28-19
That fucking Flowers! He gets the toughest cases in his beloved rural Minnesota! While some of his cases have stretched credulity, this one is more realistic, while still offering some of the quirkiest characters ever to offer "comic relief" in a murder mystery.
Sandford always offers a secondary plot that is just plain fun. In this case, unemployed rural folks are pissing off Mattel by "retrofitting" Barbie and Ken dolls to resell as sex toys! Sandford uses this secondary plot to lampoon Americans who take silly things too seriously.
Conger's narrative portrayals are once again spot-on! 5 stars throughout!
