Great writing and story telling. Also, ouch, that one stung. It made the book better but it hurt. I don't want to wait for the next book.

Story
In just seven days, the world will crumble. The System's Descent will usher in a new era of chaos: wild animals mutating, monstrous creatures emerging, and the cessation of modern technology. Humanity will be left defenseless. Drew Wright knows none of this. At least not until he is rudely ripped from his bed and thrust into a white room to undergo a taser-happy ‘Tutorial’. Turns out, he is one of a thousand randomly selected people to be forewarned of the approaching apocalypse. Now, he faces the delightful task of convincing his wife and mother of the devastation hurtling towards them.

Politics in this book takes away from the story. It's also a little slow at times, I find myself say dreaming before things get interesting again.

It's Awful, I am not going to tell you what to do, but I wish I would have let the series die with the last release. I'm not finished so I'll try to continue, it's just horrible. I'm so disappointed, every book leading up to this one, I liked. I'm just sad.
*may be a spoiler if you bother to read it*
This book basically goes far left extremist eco terrorist.
It isn't even well thought out, when you could literally magic a solution into existence, then decide to pretend mother earth would approve of cobalt mining for electric cars.
It's just a bit insane, research alternative energy, alternative batteries, alternative combustion, ways to make things cleaner and last longer then add them into the book, make it seem possible rather than, if you don't believe in eco terrorism then you'll be killed.
I am still struggling to finish the book and will likely just return it. I just wish we lived in a world were fantasy could be fun, show you the possibilities and not be so clearly political propaganda.
Sad, I'll never read another book in this series or by this author.

Possibly it's not to save a pair of drowning girls, not go 'viral' on social media and certainly not to let the local police take your passport, trapping you on a small 'party' island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. But Steve isn't the average guy, he's ex-military, ex-enforcer and ex-human. He's a one man nanite fuelled nightmare for those that cross the line, and he's decided that its time to clean up his act. He's going to make up for the things he's done, and save 'the little guys'.
