Churches and individual Christians typically have faulty assumptions about the causes of poverty, resulting in the use of strategies that do considerable harm to poor people and themselves. When Helping Hurts provides foundational concepts, clearly articulated general principles and relevant applications. The result is an effective and holistic ministry to the poor, not a truncated gospel.

Not just for preachers
Reviewed: 09-04-15
This is a great resource for teachers, preachers, and anyone who wants to share the Gospel better. Pastor Keller does an excellent job in reminding us to not only live in Christ and share that truth but also he reveals how Christ is evident in all of scripture. I ended up downloading the Kindle version so that I could highlight and bookmark areas for me to go back on.

Excellent...but had me wondering at first.
Reviewed: 12-05-14
What did you love best about Forgotten God?
Francis Chan reads this and how he shares what he has learned from God's Word is very easy to understand and inspires you to apply to your own life.
What about Francis Chan’s performance did you like?
Easy to listen to.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The whole book.
Any additional comments?
This starts out with a radio interview with Francis Chan. Although the interview is interesting I am glad that it didn't take up the whole audio book. I didn't feel the interview added anything to the book. It seemed more to encourage you to get the book.

Story
Would you believe it took nearly 500 years to translate the ESV (English Standard Version) Bible? That's because the ESV builds on the great translations of the past - including William Tyndale's New Testament of 1526 and the King James Version (KJV) of 1611. But the ESV Bible also builds on the best Christian scholarship of the last 100 years.
