About this listen

A follow up to the profound message of Crazy Love, Pastor Francis Chan offers a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit's direction in our lives.

"In the name of the Father, the Son, and ... the Holy Spirit." We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two? As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit - the Helper - so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ.

Unfortunately, today's church has admired the gift but neglected to open it. Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church's power - the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we've ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results.

Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan's invitation to stop and remember the One we've forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

I was blown away with the truths that was shared in this book. God has opened my eyes to something that I have just glanced at or completely missed in my walk with Him. I'm going to read it again to pick up more truths I may have missed.

My pastor is currently teaching a sermon series on the book of Acts, and Francis Chan’s book, Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit, could not have been read/heard at a more amazing time, not just because it speaks greatly of the book of Acts, but because of my need for the Holy Spirit. The audiobook says “Remembering Our Crucial Need” while the paperback book I own says “Reversing Our Tragic Neglect,” and, while there is a crucial need for the Holy Spirit, the book certainly tells of the tendency for me to neglect what I need.

Francis Chan also read the book, so his audio is filled with enthusiasm and hope that the reader/listener will come to a loving relationship with the Holy Spirit, a gift from God, and that I will submit and obey what the Lord commands through His Counselor.

Perfect Timing in My Life

Francis did an amazing job with this book! It has changed my life and given me a lot of perspective and things to think on. He asks very honest, hard to answer questions about your willingness to follow and be obedient to the Spirit and about keeping alive the true flame that lives within us.

Every Christian needs this book. We all too often forget the Holy Spirit. We are putting ourselves at a disadvantage without Him. We are crawling when wd could fly.

This was a book that really gives someone who has professed faith in God a lot to think about when it comes to their relationship with the Holy Spirit and how to truly walk with God. I deeply enjoyed the profiles of spirit filled believers and the encouragement to boldness their stories brought. While I would have loved more scripture references and exploration through the Bible, I think it’s meaningful to have that pursuit of The Spirit left to the reader. Great read and author.
