Story
Sam and Clementine have a wonderful, albeit, busy life: they have two little girls, Sam has just started a new dream job, and Clementine, a cellist, is busy preparing for the audition of a lifetime. If there’s anything they can count on, it’s each other. Clementine and Erika are each other’s oldest friends. A single look between them can convey an entire conversation. But theirs is a complicated relationship, so when Erika mentions a last minute invitation to a barbecue with her neighbors, Tiffany and Vid, Clementine and Sam don’t hesitate.

Tim Keller uses logic and knowledge with great warmth and compassion to answer lots of questions people may have. I’ve actually ordered a hard copy now so I can re-read it and highlight, underline, etc. I plan to recommend this to all of my questioning and searching friends.

So great on so many levels!

I loved this more than I thought I would (and I had a major crush on Opie Taylor as I watched re-runs as a child.) The relationships within the Howard family were so interesting to me as the deep respect for each other was always evident. Hearing about “show business” and many of the shows and movies I’ve seen was fascinating and illustrated how hard it is to stay employed for most actors. I really loved hearing the voices of both Ron and Clint - thank you for sharing your world with us!

Story
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

I laughed, cried and remained amazed at the resilience of the author and his family. He has great insight into things that can help our faltering American social and economic systems - will anyone listen?? We should all hope so.
