This is an exciting, nail-biting, and human story. Finding who he really is enables his small army of operatives and friends to grow closer. I think they will need it.

Story
LAPD Homicide Lieutenant Milo Sturgis is a master detective. He has a near-perfect solve rate, and he’s written his own rule book. Some of those successes - the toughest ones - have involved his best friend, the brilliant Psychologist Alex Delaware. But Milo doesn’t call Alex in unless cases are "different". This murder warrants an immediate call. Milo’s independence has been compromised as never before, as the department pressures him to cater to the demands of a mogul: a hard-to-fathom, megarich young woman who is obsessed with reopening the coldest of cases.

First, narration second to none, as always. One of the more exciting Jack Jr tales, filled with real world intrigue and an encyclopedia of technical and tactical info. On his own, Jr's exploits would stretch the limits of credulity if our capacity hadn't been so honed by now. From sea to air to jungle this story moves quickly and doesn't calm down until the epilogue.

What a great story starring a fabulous PI. Hopefully we'll hear more of Archer. He is one of Baldacci' best characters. Takes us back to Bogart and Bacall.

Story
It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

A great detective mystery adventure. Rich characters incredibly brought to life by Edoardo Ballerini. Archer will continue as long as Baldacci wants. We cried, we laughed, and were on the edge of our seats throughout. Archer is one of the best new characters in books. Baldacci has accurately set this book in post WW2 culture.
