Story
Cal Kestis has built a new life for himself with the crew of the Stinger Mantis. Together, Cal’s crew has brought down bounty hunters, defeated Inquisitors, and even evaded Darth Vader himself. More important, Merrin, Cere, Greez, and faithful droid BD-1 are the closest thing Cal has had to a family since the fall of the Jedi Order. Even as the galaxy’s future grows more uncertain by the day, with each blow struck against the Empire the Mantis crew grows more daring.

In contrast, when Padmé gets the opportunity to see the casualties on the war-torn front lines, she is horrified. Meanwhile, with Padmé on a secret mission, her handmaiden Sabé steps into the role of Senator Amidala, something no handmaiden has done for an extended period of time. While in the Senate, Sabé is equally horrified by the machinations that happen there.

trans clone?
Reviewed: 05-18-22
the story is ok. there is a seemingly random trans gender clone and a seemingly random costume pronoun/non-binary person. both are very out of place and completely unnecessary.

cons:
I really liked the movie and loved the beginning of this book. the scenes between Artemis and Parsival get dumber and dumber to the point that I considered shutting the book off. the character Artemis is a jerk in the book and I found myself hating her more and more all of the way to the end. it is clearly stated that H is gay. there are several sexual concepts that go into a fair amount of detail. there's a lot more language in the book vs the movie.
pros:
It is REALLY different from the movie so it wasn't borring. great for geeks. I loved the level of detail. the puzzles are WAY more interesting than the movie.

I only got this because I have the books on my shelf from a bulk buy and I wanted an easy read. I don't know that I would recommend. good things: is clean, it had ties with unexplored characters from the rebels show, and has decent writing.
