About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Beth Revis brings to life the early adventures and heartbreaks of the heroine of the smash hit movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

When Jyn Erso was five years old, her mother was murdered and her father taken from her to serve the Empire. But despite the loss of her parents, she is not completely alone - Saw Gerrera, a man willing to go to any extremes necessary in order to resist Imperial tyranny, takes her in as his own and gives her not only a home but all the abilities and resources she needs to become a rebel herself.

Jyn dedicates herself to the cause - and the man. But fighting alongside Saw and his people brings with it danger and the question of just how far Jyn is willing to go as one of Saw's soldiers. When she faces an unthinkable betrayal that shatters her world, Jyn will have to pull the pieces of herself back together and figure out what she truly believes in...and who she can really trust.

A sensational Star Wars book.

A remarkable character development of the Jyn Erso character, prior to the Rogue One Movie.

Improves Rogue One’s Story

I went into this book with relatively low expectations and I must say, I loved it. I’m not a huge fan of Rogue One. I think it’s an entertaining movie sorely lacking strong, relatable characters. Rebel Rising provides Jan Erso with all the character development missing from the film. She is a much more sympathetic character and the film is improved by Bth Revis’ wonderful book.

Middle Years filled in!

Loved Rebecca Soler's performance. Story was pretty good. From age 8 until her breakout/rescue at Wobani.

Meh

It's a book about nothing in particular. Great if you are someone who can't get enough of the Star Wars universe, but don't expect a compelling plot. Also the audio is weird and randomly cuts to different volumes of speaking.

Gin urso rising.

Would you listen to Star Wars: Rebel Rising again? Why?

I would listen to this again, because it links catalis star wars to rogue one a star wars story. You might say this is also a rogue one novel.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Star Wars: Rebel Rising?

I thought the scene when Gin makes her first kill was a defining moment in the book.

What about Rebecca Soler’s performance did you like?

Whenever the protagonist of a star wars novel is a girl, it is always nice to have a female narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

I tried to like this but it's too campy

it reminds me of WB's Supergirl. it's not a good origin story. I was very frustrated by the short stories trying to be one big epic character reveal.

Anti-Climactic but still a fun Star Wars story

Pretty self explanatory from the title I gave it. I thought it was odd for Jyn to have a love interest....then there a bunch of mini stories which were fun. It didn't add a ton to the universe but still a nice, light read.

great

they have done a great job of providing a background suitable for one of star wars greatest characters. it does a great job of tapping in Jyns feelings for the empire and the rebellion, and showing us just why she feels this way. production value is great as always and the reader does a great job putting life into jyn.

Great backstory of Jyn coming of age

I love Rogue one and have watched it too many times to count. I’m not sure about the other reviews saying this is boring or not good. I think it’s got more of a young woman Rebel-to-be point of view and very much fits right in to the other stories. Most of the Star Wars stories are male-centric which perhaps may be why it feels different from the other books. I loved the woman narrator. I think she did an excellent job and will look out for more books and narration by both of these talented artists.
